Default ? about rear bumper removal

how do you remove the rear bumper from an 88 hatch?

I've removed two phillips screws from behind each tire, one phillips screw behind the license plate, two phillips screws from the bottom. The taillights are out and i removed the bolt i found under each of those. I already disconnected the electrical above the license plate.

I think the trim piece between the lights and bumper needs to be removed to get access to screws on the top of the bumper. But i don't see anyway to access the screws

what am i missing?
thanks

this is for a crx so it might be slightly different

1 or 2 bolts in the wheel well area on each side
2 underneath the bumper connecting to the rear bumper support
like 5 - 7 on top of the bumper. You need to take out the tail lights to get to them

Then beat the hell out of the bumper. mine was in there super tight.

dont know if its the same for a civic but just look everywhere there could possibly be bolts.

2 phillips screws behind each tire, 2 acorn nuts under car approximately 1 foot from outside of both sides of the bumper, 2 acorn nuts inside car behind plastic panels, above the 2 taken from under the car. May have to pull hard to get it off.

Pulled out the top of the bumper and was able to remove 3 more phillips screws. After that it came off. Found the 4 acorn nuts removed the bumper support.

thanks TurboEM1 and wood for your posts.

You need to pry the bumper at the wheel well at each side and It will come off after it's loose on the sides.

Glad I could help, good luck with what you are trying to do. I'm new to the honda scene because I have 2 teenage sons that love them. Keeps an old man on his toes and learning every day. If I can help in any way I will, But I'm still learning.
