Default not really 'new' news, but news on Hartford

The Agent hears from a couple of sources that GM sport compact owner/driver Matt Hartford will join with Pro Stock engine builder Steve Schmidt in a new Don Ness-built Chevy Cobalt.

The team hopes to bring out the new racecar as early as the NHRA Atlanta event in May. According to a source, the two have combined their existing sponsor relationships and will split driving duties with Hartford taking over at the NHRA Mile-High’s in Denver for the Western swing.

Hartford had planned on running his 1,600 horsepower V-6 Cadillac-powered Cobalt in the IHRA Pro Stock series this season until IHRA changed their mind on allowing turbo assisted cars into the mountain motored ranks. Hartford finished second in the Pro Rear Wheel Drive class in the NHRA Sport Compact series in 2005, nailing the Pro RWD record at 6.52 at Atco Raceway. (Zak Hawthorne photo) [2-22-2006]

Damm, I like to add a few more names to the list, Kubo, Abel, Paisley,Febus, Siguel, so the Pro ranks are getting smaller, and the rules harder, so who is going to save our sport ?

is Febus not returning?

What happened to Abel?

Now Vinny won't be driving WTH is going on!!!

PRO RWD was the **** last season, don't know what its going to be like this season. Hopefully, some folks step up and feel the void that will be left by these stars that have left.

I am not sure why, but those fellows are from Puerto Rico, so I can only assume that is a $ deal to travel in the USA.

Abel, I was told, he my run a few local races or may not ?

without big sponsors, those shoes are going to be very very hard to fill

I pray to the turbo gods everyday, that I am wrong and that our sport will grow.

Look at the sportsman ranks, the sport is not getting worse, just turning in a different direction. Maybe it is too soon to have the Pro FWD and Pro RWD classes. Maybe we don't need so many series going on. More and more people are racing on the sportsman level and that is the best thing you can see. Those classes are tomorrows pros.

Vinny's deal, to the bese of my recollection, has always been as a "test pilot" for Performance Motorsport. Andrew Rubio has always been slated to drive the Z. His name IS on the window...

As far as RWD is concerned I know Performance Motorsport just completed two PRORWD cars if not three. I know it will be a Titan vs. Performance Motorsport 2006 year. There should be at least four more cars.
