Default a question for $2,000

i might be able to get a credit card and i was wondering what parts i should get, all go

used turbo kit? jackson racing, drag, greddy, turbonetics, obd1

n/a? rmf header, stage2 cams, exhaust, hondata, obd1 )(maybe blaktraxx manifold)

I have never had a turbo car and I am leaning in that direction but for reliability would going n/a make decent results that I could notice if im looking for horsepower?
i have read a lot about all of the products for the prelude but im just wondering if you had to do it all over again, what would you go with?

please dont flame cuz im a "newbie" but I know a little bit about cars

if you have a 97 h22, then you are already close to 200 hp. initially i would put on an exhaust, world sport 2 is nice, then intake, maybe cam gears or even lightened flywheel. you could also do some head work, but i really depends on how soon you want to turbo and how much power you want.

If i could do it all over again, i would say N/A is the way to go. I'm building a hatch N/A - but its on hold, because i'm also building my prelude for boost. Boost is a bitch - takes a lot of research to make the perfect application. Some people tell me I 'change' my mind too much, but its because I'm going for a great street setup. Not just any old setup.

N/A is the way to go. I would say - spend the money on a really good head porting, some cams, and a valvetrain kit.

Then, get your RMF header, nice exhaust, and some higher compression pistons.......then go from there.

Hell yeah it is. No sleeving required, and a good bump in compression. But I say get those after head work and everything. People always forget about headwork. Headwork makes a huge difference- it compliments all performance modifications.

If you might be able to get a credit card, I wouldn't go maxing it out on upgrades you're not familiar with. Go ahead and get your card, but don't buy anything until you have the cash to do so - cause something is bound to go wrong and you'll need that extra "cushion" to fall back on. Just an observation...

.....and yes, this is experience talking.

Lovin the new avatar. Haven't seen garfield in such a long time. Used to watch the cartoon everyday.

But anyway, just now noticing the credit card thing. You don't want to just max it out period. Especially on your car. Never use a credit card unless you have the money in the bank. I've still never had a credit card - but i'll eventually get one just to build credit. The trick is - buying something, then paying it off as soon as you buy it.

Do NOT buy car parts with credit cars, just because the money is there.. Its a good way to start going into debt.

There are only a few people on this site whose opinion I value. This is one of those people!

I know it's very tempting, but I wouldn't go for it. Leave the credit card for stuff you have to fix, not stuff you want to play with. If you have your card clean, then "if" something bad happens you won't be SOL. A new turbo doesn't make a lawn ornament go any faster.

A good trick would be to save up your money and as you get the money for the intake by it on the credit card and pay it off instantly the same for the exhaust then same for the header......

I would also recomend looking into the mahle gold pistons. All older clames of problems are completely gone now and people are using them on stock sleves with great success (even drivers). You will get more compression than the type s pistons and still be able to use pump gass.

That is my 2 cents take if you would like at this one time offer of a very very low payment of $0 a month for 87 monts.

That's the WHOLE point of offering the 0% finance rate. It's called a "teaser rate". It's so people can get used to paying only their minimum balance AND buy stuff (even stuff they don't need) on the car. Then, once the 12 months are up, chances are you won't have the money to pay it off. They have statistics on these types of things. I think it is like 75% of the people who sign up for the card will not be able to pay the balance off after the teaser rate is up.

Anyway, if you don't have the cash now to buy mods, more than likely you will not have it when the teaser rate is up. My advice, save money as best as you can, THEN buy the mods. That will give you time to research before buying things you don't need. When you do get around to buying the mods, buy the internal engine mods FIRST!!! Exhaust, header, and intake are things you should buy LAST!!

I hope this helps.

as someone who has over 5 grand in debt to credit cards use to buy parts for a car...don't use that **** to buy car parts lol!!!

then again, it's not that bad

edit: i've been able to fund a lot of parts using this, and i've paid off the credit card's teaser rate numerous times...coilovers, motor, cams etc...
