Default dohc zc questions

I've done quite a bit of research on my zc but I am still a little confused. I ordered a obd-0 engine and I looked at the date above the dipstick and it was stamped 94. Is this right for an obd-0 engine? It is actually the d16a8 with the striped valve cover if that makes a difference.

Where the hell did you order you're ZC from!?. If i ordered a ZC and i got it and found it to say d16a8/a9 on the block i think i would take a plane ticket up to the company to beat all their *** for giving me the wrong motor that is NOT a ZC.

Is this the D16a8 Rover gti motor? I think those have more horsepower then the dohc zc and d16a9's but not sure about the obd of the motor..I have no expericence with those motors at all except I sold one of those funky vavle covers a while back on ebay..

absolutely not. i don't know why people are calling any ol' sohc motor a zc. if the block doesn't say ZC then its not a zc, and they came in sohc and dohc form no sohc zc had more HP or TQ than a dohc zc. whether it came from a rover or a honda the dohc zc's are identical with the exception of the dumb looking valve cover however the rover zc maybe marked d16a9 (and the same goes for the sohc)

i've been dealing with zc's for years. they are not to popular and there are many myths and rumors about them which are not true. if you have any questions ask me

Well every thing I have read says that this motor is identical to the dohc zc. It is the engine that was used in the rover but I wasnt sure what year they stopped making this engine. And yeah it is the dohc with the ugly *** valve cover.

does the engine have grey connector plugs on it? if so its obd I, if it does not have a cam sensor on the exh. side next to the distributor then it is definetly an OBD I motor. they made them up to 94-95

d16a8/a9 = EDM CRX Si motors.

a8 = W/ Cat
a9 = w/o Cat
(could be the other way around, but you get the idea)
