Default so ive been deprived, what can i do?

I feel dumb asking this, but i drive a pretty much stock 97 civic ex with a couple boltons, and had a few questions on racing. since i dont really know anyone who races except for people on forums, and i have never had the oppurtunity to hop in the passenger seat with someone who races i was wondering if u guys could help me out... Pretty much, how can i drive my car (launching, when to shift, how to shift..) to get the most out of it when at a stoplight and someone is next to me revving there engine, this way atleast i might stand a chance. I just need some basic pointers i guess! Thanks alot in advance..

I'm not going to knock on you, but Im sure some people will regarding what you've said.
Alot of people are willing to help here, with mature and knowledgeable answers, but when you mention, racing on the street, etc. youre not going to get an answer at all.

Learn to drive your car yourself, that is the only way you will get better.

Anyone who races will tell you only seat time will make you better, which is a fact.

The track is the best way to learn. Controlled conditions, safer, and legal.

When someone revs teir engine up at me on the street because of the import racing sticker in the back of my DD/tow vehicle, i just laugh because about 99% of the time, the f350 dually would beat them.

So i just spool the turbo up and let them eat some raw black diesel fuel and then smile as they go...
