i wanna drive with ambers on...
i have a 1990 STD hatch, as you all know, when i start my car i can turn on/off any lights i want, but as soon as my e-brake is down, the running lights come on. how do i go about fixing it so that i get rid of my running lights. i want to be able to control ambers and headlight functions manually. thanks
I know for a fact that the 88-89 civic and crx had manual lighting on the steering column, but up until i read this post I thought that all 90-91 civic's and crx's had manual. That's an interesting feature, but rewiring it would be a bitch of a hassel.
i think this is just a canadian thing. what happens if you unplug the grey running light module under the dash? i don't have any idea- just throwing ideas out. you could probably defeat the switch pretty easilly at the module too.
you'd think these modern engineers never had girlfriends/ hid from the cops/ etc...
edit: i realized how silly it was to even type that. everyone knows that:

I believe that the Canadian civics have the daytime runners. The daytime running relay broke on my car and now the lights can be turned off, but the parking brake light stays on. It's been like that for three years now.

SOUNDS LIKE A WIRING PROBLEM. I'M HAVING A WIRING PROBLEM OF MY OWN. MY REVERSE LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN CAR IS SHUT OFF. I KILLED 2 BATTERIES SO FAR FORGETTING TO TAKE CAR OUT OF REVERSE WHEN PARKED.
No, there is no wiring problem... 1990 and newer cars in canada have to have daytime running lights as a couple ppl have allready mentioned.
Underneath your dash locate the fuse for the daytime running lights (DRL) and pull the fuse... it is that easy (at least it was when I did it in my 00 SiR)
