How many mounts on my 91 ex.
Hello again. I have a 91 accord ex w/ manual trans. Im getting a lot of wheel hop. I know that this is due to a broken right axle which i will be changing this weekend. I also notice my motor mounts are looking pretty beat up. Here is my question. How many mounts are there on my car? I thought i saw 4 but one might be for the trans. I saw one by the alternator, one on the other side, and one in front, but i also saw one in the rear. Im really not sure thats why i need help. If someone is sure please help a brother out. Also if you know where i can get a good deal on the set of motor mounts and poly inserts i'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Well thier are two that are usaully called motormounts the rear mount*the hardest to change and in my opinion the most important* then the left side mount on the drivers side of the motor.
Then you have the torque mount in the front of the engine it looks like a dogbone.
the other one is on the trans on the passenger side of the engine bay.But it's just as important to change as the others
you have four mounts in all and bad mounts cause wheel hop I'm sure the axel wasn't helping but IMO the mounts are probably causung it.And a bad mount can cause the engine and trans to sit at a weird angle and wear out your cv joints.
If someone doesn't use the right mounts to do an engine swap and the engine is all cocked in the bay it causes CV joints to go bad.

the front and rear are the ones that usually go out.
for front they make polyurethane motor mount inserts. for rears i dont know of anyone that makes inserts yet.
since im going turbo and it required me to ditch the front mount i am going to make a solid rear mount following these...
