Default Please help with my b16 swap. Redline at 7000

I know something is wrong here. No codes at all. I bought a 98 itr cluster and everything was hooked up correctly. The oil light comes on after high rpms buit not instantly it comes on slightly and then dims out. Also it redlines at 7000 but some times it redlines at 7500. first gen b16 from hmo pr3 ecu

it's in the numbers I'm not sure, I'm sure somebody else knows. or you could tear it apart and go to one of the chipping sites and see what the diff is on the board. As for you oil light, I dunno but it doesn't sound good.

is vtec activating? if not fuel will cut off at 7k rpms. if not then check your wiring. also oil light may indicate that vtec is trying to engage but cant because the engine needs oil pressure to engage vtec. may need new oil pump or may have leek somewhere.

Best way to check is to pull off the 5 screws holding the cover on and look for the A/T or M/T stamp on the circuit board.

I am sure that I need a new speed sensor and that will fix the problem

VTEC is dependant on knowing that you're at a certain speed before it can activate, so if your speed sensor doesn't work it could be stopping it from activating (though I dunno about the fuel cut thing).

would also cause a fuel cut too..... car is on some type of limp mode it seems.

could also be LOW OIL. same symtoms with my old B16. changed the oil and filter, went away.... and got vtec back.

Is the motor at operating temps when you are trying this? Should redline at 7 if the motor is cold with no Vtac.
