RSX A-Spec Performance Package
Was wondering if anyone knew anything about the A-Spec Performance package that is available from the factory for the RSX. Most of it is cosmetic (body kit, badges) but I am wondering if the 'Sport suspension' is the same that the say is in the type-s or if it is even a step above that? Also the wheels, same size as the type-s but I wonder if they are perhaps a little lighter?
if your buying it from the dealer, the only thing that will be lighter will be you...
after you spend the 4k
there are tons of aftermarket items that will suit your needs and exceed what that package will provide you

I kinda had a feeling that was the case.
I guess I was hoping against hope that there might actually be some benefit to it.

Ha. yeah thats why I was on here. the only info I had so far was from a salesman. I went to an Acura dealership the other evening. Took a spin in a type-S. And I defintiely wasn't looking to buy something that evening, and before I know it, its all this talk about 'what can we do to get your business' 'can you act in the next couple days?' and the guys tellin me about how he's owned two RSX's and blah blah blah... I had forgotten just how corny and pushy they can be.

I mean the A Spec package is nice, but too damn expensive. The suspension is like .75" lower or something, nice body kit.. I would also rather spend around 4K elsewhere.

Exactly, the A-Spec kit is nice, but not for 4k. I like the lip kit and the springs (shocks too?) provide a nice drop but for 4k you could do all that yourself.
One thing the A-spec kit has going for it is that it should be fully covered under warrenty. Although I know alot of people dont really care about that. Even with that said, I would pass unless you get a really good deal on it.

The A Spec suspension is a grade beyond the Type S suspension in terms of damping and spring rates.
If you are after an economical improvement to your handling, find the A spec suspension on eBay or find a dealer that'll sell that by itself. It will only cost about $400 or so, and installation is a no brainer for any mechanic.
As always, however, since it will lower the car, a good alignment is advisable afterwards. I just put an HFP suspension on my Accord, and it doesn't pull, isn't flighty at high speeds, and tracks straight on threshold braking from high speeds...however, I wouldn't count on that if I were you.

No Enkei Honda/Acura wheels are going to be especially light. The A Spec wheels will be cheaper than true lightweight wheels, however, and that's a big plus.

If you really want an A-spec, wait a year or so till they're trying to move the RSX's as they get retired and find one that's already been equipped.
I nearly bought an old A-spec when the redesign came out because the A-spec's are tough to move as eqipped. The dealer practically gave me the package for free to move the car. I ended up holding out for a EVO and K20ing my EM2 but that was annother story.
Moral: Wait for the right time and you can drag a deal out of the dealers, even if it is kicking and screaming

Thanks for all the tips guys. I haven't decided what I'm doing for sure yet.

I wish I could, but its a little different situation. I actually just got a job with Honda in their design studios in Torrance. I'm relocating from Pittsburgh in a couple of weeks.
I'm going to order a car with a nice employee discount, but I don't know if i'd get to test drive that package ahead of time or not. I'm actually thinking about leasing a type-s for 2 years and just keeping it stock. Then after they retire them like you guys were sayin' there might be something new I like, or I could even then just buy it off the lease. We'll see, still haven't made my mind up yet.

Two ways to look at it. You can go all out and spend the money elsewhere, or u could buy the aspec suspension. personally, the other a spec stuff is all looks but the suspension. It runs around 600 bucks online, and most acura dealers will install and align ur car for another 200, so 800 total. You get the car a little lower, about an inch, not .75. Good thing is if you still have your warrenty, the aspec won't void it. Also it comes with springs and shocks, where if u just drop ur car your stock shocks will be blown after some time. Lot of people dont dig the only 1 inch drop, but if you want your warrenty it's not a bad way to go
