hello everyone i am having a problem with my header. A few days ago my engine (zc) started getting noisy, it sounded like the valves were way out of adjustment. I popped the hood and noticed a black area near the header flange and decided to go ahead and torque it back down (33ft/lbs) also i noticed that the bolts holding the two pieces together appeared to be locknuts. the nylon insert was melted and bubbling out of the top, I went ahead and torqued this back down too.Bang! that fixed it no more loudness and no more noise which sounded like valves. Then a few days later it and it is back again.I got this header used from my mechanic which he installed in his shop it is a two piece DC Sports resembling this



I also noticed that the mounting point near the stub axle didnt line up with the one on the block and wasnt connected therefore whenever the exhaust shifted the header was being torqued around. I am going to replace the bolts that hold the two pieces together but do you think i should fab a bracket that holds the rear mount too??

 

There is a bracket that bolts to the bottom and wraps around the STOCK header. Not sure if you can use it on an aftermarket one though. I'd try replacing your donut gasket between the two pieces of the exhaust manifold and then torquing it down really well. Pretty much all D series stuff is universal... so you shouldn't be having too many issues.
