How strong is an ITR crank? Can it handle mashing a valve into the head?
I asked this in the NA forum...but I figure you guys break more chit then anyone else...so...
I have an ITR crank that is out of a motor that dropped a valve. chewed up a couple of pistons pretty bad....hole in one piston. Now, I need a crank.
The crank has no damage to the journals...no visable damage at all...
How strong are Honda cranks? Mainly, an ITR crank?
anyone know of any shops near Seattle, WA to get the crank X-rayed?

I would say if it didnt smash a bearing the crank should be fine..just have a machine shop check it to be sure.

I bought a c5 motor that had also dropped a valve. I sent the block and crank to Benson and had the crank balanced and micropolished. It checked out OK.

ITR = 87mm stroke and counterweighted for balance.
b16 = 77mm stroke and not balanced but its such a small crank stroke, you really wouldn't need to have it balanced.
Thanks for the replies guys.
