Default Why does this happen?

When my friend starts up his 86 accord the battery light will turn on then turn off. He just put a new battery in not to long ago so we cant figure out why its doing this. The car does run btw so should he just pay no attention to it? Anyone know, thanks.

alt is on it's way out. You might want to have the ALT tested for output at idle

You may be to the point where the brushes (#3 in the linked illustration) may require replacement on your alternator (Honda services some parts within their components), and they may be loosing spring tension and not contactng the armature hard enough for a good connection. Unfortunately, this only shows up if the lamp comes on while you're testing the Alternator.
