Q? JDM Light conversion & Pros and Cons of DC2
Hey how u doing, i am new to this forum. I am from australia and planning to buy a Integra Type R DC2. I just want to know how much would it cost to do the whole Front JDM Light conversion instead of the circle lights in the front.
Also i would like to know the pros and cons of the Integra Type R DC2. I just sold my car, which was a Toyota Celica GT4 (ST185). With little i know about it when i bought the car, i only realised that the GT4 is hella expensive to mod and do repairs. So i sold it. And now tryin out the VTEC's instead of turbo's for now. So any opinions would be good.
How Much to do the JDM DC2 Front light conversion?
What are the GOOD things and what are the BAD things about the DC2?
THANKS >_0

pros: fun, somewhat cheap, quick, go-kart like handling, very realiable, good gas milage
cons: theifs, not too good of a daily driving car
JDM front end conversion usually cost around 2-3000 depending on the condition

Not too good of a daily driving car???...why is that???...Reason why im goin towards the Type R is because of the VTEC, its fast for a n\a, and i believed it has good fuel economy. I was gettin one as a everyday driver, because it is something fast with out the turbo's. Turbo needs alotta maintenance, its not too good on fuel and so on, so not too good as a everyday car.
Also with the JDM front end conversion. What does that consist of??? is that 2-3000 for everything all done. Or is that just in parts??

It depends on what you want, there are different choices.
HID or Non-HID, Brand new or used. I think the price that was mentioned is an estimate for a brand new front end with HIDs. You also need to find a reliable body shop for the conversion and painting(Im not sure how much this would cost nowadays). Ive read some people do the conversion themselves in this forum, do a search, I think the user's account name is MASE.

Most of us aren't going to be able to help you out with pricing for that front-end conversion, being that everything will be different here in the US. It's not terribly complicated though, and the only work you might not be able to do yourself would be the paint matching and radiator support swap. The daily driver statement the other guy made also applies more to the US I would think. Theft of ITRs and Hondas/Acuras in general is a pretty big problem here, but I haven't heard the same for you Aussies. The only other daily driving issues would be that the car is considered loud and stiff by some (me not being one of them), and it can be...difficult, if pushed too hard on the street.
i just think my car is not too good of a daily driver cuz it's slammed and i have to watch out for the pot holes and always have to worry about someone giving me door dings and theifts.
and the JDM front end conversion consists of
radiator support, both fenders, hood, grill, lip headlights. so on
but run a search on JDM front end. there are LOTS LOTS of info on these
and the JDM front end has "weaker" rad support that means it will crash up more than the USDM front ends

Bumper support, not radiator support, and you can modify the existing one to work with the JDM bumper.

Probably not, since they don't have the super strict safety regulations that the US does. I sure can't verify that though. The only difference I can imagine there being would be the bumper support.

Umm im not sure about the Aus delivered one...i just dont like how the front lights are 4 circles and i like the JDM front better looking. And i have always wanted the full JDM integra type R with the C-west bodykit...that looks mad...but looks gay with the 4 circles lights. In aus, no one really steal honda's ay...if a car has an alarm, it is usually not touched.
And the loudness and all that dont bother me, i like the sound of the vtec's. I like how it sounds in my dad's 03' Crv sport, a lil different compared to my friends vtir civic. So if there isnt any downside on the mechanical side im happy. My last car the celica gt4 ST185, it being a rare car. It is expensive for parts. Expensive for labour. This car has a lot of potential but u'll need lotta money to play with one of those. Gettin a clutch or gearbox done on them are expensive, as the whole engine needs out to get to the clutch and the gearbox. Also the gearbox is expensive to source parts to rebuild and strengthen. As long as these ITR boxes are good, and isnt one of the big issues u got to look out for im fine with it.
But im still stuck...integra type R or the new model accord euro??

Two totally different cars, and we collectively have almost no experience with the Accord R's. Accord would be heavier and more luxurious I would think.

Also after playin around with a turbo sports car. I wanna go something differents...thats why i was lookin at the Accord euro. I sorter want a taste of the other side. The luxury side, and i heard and people say it is a pretty fast car too. For the accord euro, i see it more of a cruising car then for racing. All id probably do to it is, add a lil bodykit on it such as a lip and sideskirts...Lower it and chromes, tint the windows, abitta interior neons and a sound system. Now thats pimpin!!
And we dont have the Euro-R's here, i would love one of those...is there that great of a difference?

The ITR trannys are great, as long as you don't abuse the hell out of them. Even then, the biggest weakness would be the synchros, but as long as you're shifting smoothly and not speedshifting or anything you'll be fine. What engine comes in the Accord you have available? The "hotter" model Accord we have has a fairly nice V6 (the real newest ones have a fantastic V6, but that's not the same as the older ones). The Euro-R had a hot 4-cylinder, an F22 maybe? I don't know a whole lot about them, but from reviews I've read they were pretty durn zippy. From the sound of what you'd like, I'd bet on the Accord making you happier than the ITR.

He's not talking about the Euro R - we don't get that here. We get an Accord Euro which is essentially the same as your Acura TSX. It doesn't get the same K20A that the JDM Euro R gets.
As far as JDM conversions go - theres a few guys on ClubRSX who have done it.

They would be able to tell you the costs involved. User 'z10' on ClubRSX forums also can supply the necessary parts for your conversion.
Cheers
