Default shorter headers for a zc?

We have a DOHC ZC in our 89 CRX, and the headers hang really low to the ground. They sit a couple inches below the bracket. Are there any other headers that will work with the ZC that don't hang down so low?

I'm glad you asked. I just took a look, and it's actually the downpipe that is so low to the ground. The headers are short. I believe they are OEM ZC headers. I don't know for sure though... we bought the car with this engine.

So I guess my options are either to get an aftermarket header or a custom downpipe. I might as well get a different header. When researching headers, what do I need to look for? I have no idea what will fit a ZC (and I can't search :/).

D series headers will fit the ZC's head ports, slightly off but bolts on.

i have a stock crx Si exhaust manifold now. and i dont think i have any header clearnance problems. but i do have chassis clearance issues

Hondas almost always have clearance with any header when lowered.

I've smashed up a few I would invest in a skid plate I know somone makes the for like 40 or less.

This is a 4-2-1, btw. The downpipe sits at least 3 inches below where the bracket is. It's really scraped up from hitting the ground so much. I think it's bent a little bit too. Good thinkin' on the skid plate... I'll be sure to install one when we find some alternate headers.

Good to know that D series will fit... but since this is a race car it'd probably be best if the ports matched up. Hate to lose power on something so simple.
