I think you're trying to refer to the Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212. It's a street tire, pretty good, cost about as much as the Falken Azenis RT-615 and reported to wear just as quickly (which means very quick). Not quite as sticky as the RT-615 though, if you're looking for sticky. And not a good choice for daily driving if you want a tire that gives you decent treadlife.

If you're looking for a tire recommendation, tell us what kind of car you have (year, model, version), what size wheels you have (if they're not stock), how you use your car (daily driving, track events, etc), whether you need to use the same tires in snow as well as warm weather, whether you care mostly just about performance or are willing to trade off some performance for a lower price and longer treadlife, etc. We'll be happy to try to recommend something that fits your needs.

i wasnt really planning on getting into what tires i would want or need but since we got into it, might as well for the future ref. ive had my experience with the rt-615 and theyre pretty damn sticky thats fer sure. tread wear is quick. i was just wondering how well the hankooks performed cause i herd they were new and they did some pretty decent street work. i migth just go ahead and use some azenis again only cause i kno what to expect. i went from 16inch to 15 inch wheels so this time ill be using either 195/45/15 or 205/50/15. i was wondering is 45 would be too low profile? i havent seen a pic of that size tire on 15's before but if anyone can post them it would be nice to get a visual! the 50 would be a decent meaty choice but kinda seems too beafy but ill be able to deal wiht it. any other tires out there that compare to the azenis that arent so expensive? im a daily driver wantin some sticky tires to play around with. auto x mabe if i ever find the money and better suspension. my cars a 99 civic coupe with a 99 gsr swap(type r lsd, clutch, flywheel, exhaust, intake) nothing too special. but yea ill always love sticky tires even for daily driving even tho im wearing them down. wheels come off for winter.

Yeah, if you like the Azenis, then stick with the Azenis (pun intended ).

Yes, it would (and there aren't many 195/45 tires on the market anyway). Your tire came with 185/65-14 or 195/55-15 tires stock. The best 15" sizes for your car are either 195/55-15, or 205/50-15 (1.6 percent smaller outer diameter than stock). The Azenis RT-615 comes in 205/50-15.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by blackie &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">any other tires out there that compare to the azenis that arent so expensive? im a daily driver wantin some sticky tires to play around with. auto x mabe if i ever find the money and better suspension. my cars a 99 civic coupe with a 99 gsr swap(type r lsd, clutch, flywheel, exhaust, intake) nothing too special. but yea ill always love sticky tires even for daily driving even tho im wearing them down. wheels come off for winter.</TD></TR></TABLE>

The problem with the Azenis isn't so much the purchase price. (You may not be aware of it, but they dropped their prices last month, and the 205/50-15 is now $78.) It's that they wear so fast, so you need to buy them 2-3 times as often as with most other street tires. But they sure are sticky. You can get other tires that will last longer, and some cost a bit less, but they won't be anywhere near as sticky as the Azenis.

If you decide that you're willing to give up some of that stickiness for a tire that lasts longer (and still performs decently), consider getting the Kumho Ecsta SPT ($63/tire in 195/55-15 at the Tire Rack) or Yokohama AVS ES100 ($61/tire in 195/55-15 at the Tire Rack) or the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 ($45/tire in 205/50-15 at Edge Racing). All are similar to each other - very good on dry pavement, excellent in rain, and last a long time. But don't expect them to stick as well as the Azenis.

Start eating instant noodles and get the azenis! I had toyo proxies and dunlop 901 and the difference is night and day. Oh, and I downgraded the size of the rim from 16 to 15. I'm running on 205/50/15. The ride is better, sticks like crazy, drive like crazy.

As I mentioned, the Azenis is a lot stickier than most other tires. However, in all fairness, the Dunlop FM901 and many of the Toyo Proxes (like the Proxes 4 all-season tires) are really mediocre when it comes to performance.

I've had Toyo Proxes 4 and Hankook R-S2 Z212 and I can tell you, the Toyo's although good quality tire are not even in the same league as the Hankooks. I went from 205/40/17 Proxes 4 (so no sidewall flex) to 205/50/15 Hankooks mounted on 5.5" steel rim (min size it needs) and even with tire flex under hard cornering, the Hankook absolutely kills the Proxes 4.

It is literally like comparing winter tires to slicks...its a huge difference. I've now decided top try Azenis RT-615 to see how they are compared to the RS2 Z212's

If you can, get the RT-615 if your serious about grip, otherwise settle for other tires that are cheaper like Kumho SPT or Yoko ES100, but know they won't even be close to RS2 z212 or Azenis RT-615. Its said the well the Z212 and RT-615 are great for handling, the tread pattern on the Z212 isn't the best under braking and thats where the Azenis is supposed to be better. Again, thats whats said and is from tire reviews, and I can say my braking wasn't the best the Z212 but I can't say forsure if that was the tire though, too many variables.

So i'd get RT-615 again

It is comparing winter tires to slicks. Yes, just about literally. The Toyo Proxes 4 is an all-season tire, designed to be okay on snow as well as in warmer weather. Even inexpensive summer tires like the Yokohama ES100 can kill just about any all-season tire.

personally the rt-615 lasted me an entire summer season (may to oct) and i beat the living hell out of them with my turbo d-series and there was still 60-70% left on the front and I could still see the azenis stamp on the rear tires. When people say they go through 2-3 sets a season I think their either on crack, auto-x alot, do standing burnouts or thro away useable tires.

Most people using the Azenis (old Azenis RT-215 or new Azenis RT-615) on the Integra Type R go through a set in 9-12K miles. A few people get more than that range, and a few others get less than that range, but that's what most people get.

Whether that means one set in two seasons or two sets in one season, depends on how many miles you drive in a season.

And, of course, there are differences from one car to another, one driver to another, etc. But that's typical.
