Default Idle Wandering

This just recently started: when I idle, the rpms wander around on me. What could this be?

do they go to the left and then to the right or do they just run around you in circles? Most likley a vaccum leak.

It goes up and down, sometimes chills around 2k then drops down to like 600, goes back up to 1.5k, etc.

if I am not mistaken that is you sensor that is the back of the intake mianifod. Also what it might be is if you dont have enough coolant then it will run like that too

Most likely a vacuum leak. The iacv is trying to bring the idle down, but there is too much air entering. So then you get the surging. Check all vacuum hoses and also check where the intake mani connects to the head for any leaks.

Which of these is more likely?

I just fixed this problem on mine after a lot of research. It could be Idle air control valve, Fast idle thermo valve, vacume leak, Ecu problem, Idle control screw on throttle body, Throttle body positioning sensor, Bad coolent or not enough coolent, thermostat.

As you can see too many things can cause this problem check to see if your throwing any codes. Hopes this helps

It could be the O2 sensor, sometimes it will cause the idle to go up and down if its bad.
