I'm curious about the clearance. Will this rub or hit?

 

judging from the wheels that are on my car right now (17x7.5 +40offset), the 215 will be t00 wide. I got 205/40 on the wheels right now and it comes pretty close to rubbing on the rear fenders.

yshi - whose still debating whether to keep these 17's for street *shrugs*

 

Hey Yoshi, you want to chip in for one 215/45 tire and try it out? I'm looking into getting some 17's as well and wondered about this myself. Sumitomo makes one and it's only $88 from tire rack. If it works, we can decide whoever wants to keep it by buying off from the other person and use it for spare or something.

btw: 215/45R17 will be t00 tall for our cars. 205/45 or 215/40 will probably be a better size.

 

But will 215/40/17 work? Want to test it out Yoshi? $100 from Tire rack..

 

I"ll go down to America's Tire and see if they can test fit a tyre for me

 

215/45-17s are over an inch too tall. I have 215/45-16s and they are slightly taller than stock....only a few mms though.

 

The reason why I want to go with 215/45/17 because lots of good tires are offered in that size. But I guess I can live with 215/40..

I just happened to be driving by when I spotted what seemed like a partay. So I turned around, got thru security, grabbed my digicam and crashed the partay - juju

They had the IS300 Grand Am car, bunch of CART cars, several off road trucks, green Matrix LBGP Pace Car w/ roll cage, the White Cap Celica funnay car, and Celica NASCAR.
