idle surges even after replacing iacv
i replaced my idle air control valve today because my 94 prelude si idle has been surging from 800-1500 back n forth...but it did not fix the problem..anyone have any other possible solutions to my problem...i cleaned my original iacv n didnt work so i bought another one thinking it was just broken
you know whats funny, i have a 94 SI (but with jdm h22)
and when i unplugged the vacuum hose that goes to the black box under your oem intake, i would get the surging idle, when i plugged it back into the box, normal idle
that probably isn't your problem because i have read alot about this, but it cured mine
gl with that

Try, screwing in the TB Idle screw all the way in, and adjust from their...Set Idle at 800-850 somewheres about..
Most likely your Idle screw backed out(beep-beep) of the TB... Or you have a vaccum leak somewheres in your vac hose's

The same thing happen to my car. On the throttlebody there is a fast idle control valve or assembly. Remove that part from the throttlebody. Then remove one of the ends, I don't remember which side. Well, there is a plastic or wax screw inside. Screw the screw all the way in. That screw is adjusted at the factory but over time it unscrews itself out. I hope this help.

I was going to suggest this too.
fast idle control valve helps control idle when the motor is cold. does this happen when the motor is cold or warmed up to operating temp?

when i first turn on the car it idles very high...1500-2000...then when it warms up n drops thats when the surging thing comes on...
there is a fast idle valve under the throttle body (at the 6 o'clock position) and a idle air control valve on the front side of your intake manifold (its got an electrical plug and two coolant hoses running to it) clean the mesh screen in this one and replace the old dried out seals (3 of them) thats what was wrong with mine
yea i replaced the iacv n it didnt do nothin..is the fast idle control valve the piece thats sort of RIGHT under the intake manifold like right under the intake pipe? cuz i took a piece off that i thought was the fast idle ..it had a spring in it but it didnt have a wax screw that im suppose to screw back in..there was no screws in it
