here some random point, see if any of the following tickles your pickles

non factory hid is illegal, but again, i have it for 4years now, cops don't give a damn i guess.

hid K rating is measure in Kelvin system, the higher the number doesn't give you more light. factory system start around 3800-4300. which is a white light with a tint of yellow. 12000K would be rainbow with alot of purple.

Good brand: hella, phillip
bad brand: taiwanese/japanese knockoff/discount brand, McCulloch(burnt less than a year on my friend's old teg)

they are individually fuse'd, around 20 amp per side.

most people satisfy with oem headlight housing with hid but some people do retrofit their housing with OEM/REAL projector( such as from S2000, integra, TSX, a4, etc), a retrofitted projector mated with a proper blub would give the best result. there's place that do retrofit work, that cost around 500 bucks.

thanks for the tips. I'm actually lookin at the white light with a little blue tint in it. so i guess that means its the 6000K or the 4300K.

what about rebased D2R bulbs?? what is the difference between rebased and regular bulbs??

if i am not mistaken rebased bulb is just blub that have different "seat" or base that been retrofitted with the right seat.

almost all factory HID bulb have a unique seat from regular halogen blub.

dc5 in japan have a hid upgrade option(some are non-hid, some are hid'ed), i think it's around 4300k also

Anybody kno what kind of bulbs (in terms of Kelvin temp.) the S2K uses? I like those HID's the most. I think they look better than most of the others.

i think the s2000 uses 4600k im not 100 % sure though.but no aftermarket set will give you those results just, buy the s2000 hid kit oem from a junkyard or someplace like that and buy the projectors and do a retro fit in your stock halogen housing.

i have another question. How do you know if the bulbs are of good quality and not cheap and burn out hella quick? On ebay, there are a bunch of kits on sale and some even say Philips or Hella kits, but i'm not sure about the bulbs they use. Any help is appreciated.

Hella kit use hella blub, most oem use bosch or philip or even hella for german car.

my hella blubs has a stamp on the housing of the bulb.

the box they come with looks pretty nice and i think there's blue s2000k print on hella's aftermarket kit

6000k will give you a white output with a blue tint. It's very similar to BMWs, Audis, etc.

4300k is pure white.

hella doesn't make bulbs. They make the ballasts. As for kelvin, ALL cars use either philips 4300K or OSRAM 4300K. The purple you see is not from the bulb because the bulbs all emit a yellowish-white light, but from the cutoff band of the projector. As bulbs age, they will get higher in the kelvin scale resulting in the purplish hue you see in a lot of CL and TL's. But they all use 4300K bulbs. As for kits. A hella kit is basically a market package using hella ballast with i dunno what bulbs. The OEM's i know of are hella, phillips, matsushita and mitusbishi ballasts. The kit name just distinguishes a certain part therefore they put the name in there as a marketing gimmick.

If you aren't interested in doing a retrofit, just grab a McCulloch kit.

Simple plug, and play kit.

I've had mine for just over three years now, and haven't had any problems.

If getting any aftermarket HID conversion, be sure not to buy anything over 8000k, because it will start blinding people at night... and the light won't really reach that far as a legal one!

anything over 4300 starts to lose effectiveness, and unless the car was factory equipped with hid, its illegal (no such thing as legal kit for accords).

i'd rather post this question here since it's pertaining to HID's.

so i just got my kit in yesterday. now i'm contemplating where to mount the ballasts. the instructions say to ideally mount them under the headlights for optimum cooling. is there another location i can mount the ballasts at? btw, my car is a '00 accord. right now i'm kinda lazy to take off my front bumper due to an illness.

Any double-sided tape?

I have my passenger side ballast mounted right near my air filter in the area just above the wheelwell. On the driver side, the ballast is just above my ABS unit. There is a little metal platform, and it just rests on there.

thanks. there were couple places i was thinking about mouting it but thought it was too close to the pulleys or just by any chance, moisture might seep into the ballasts.

if you don't want to blind the daylights out of oncomming people you might want to consider going retro. it's set you back about $5-600 in addition to the HID kit but the results are very good compared to HID in stock housings.

i'm gonna aim my headlights lower once i install my HID kit. then if i must, i'll put some tape to block off some of the glare.

I've gotten mixed reviews about the McCulloch kits. A lot of people on this other forum said it was a bad cheap kit and had lots of problems. But i've also heard the quality is real good and the bulbs are great. Not sure what to think, and i guess you just have to get lucky with the kit???
