tried to start but jsut turned over **help**
okay i am to the point i am ready to start my car... b18a1 91 crx HF
i do not have my battery yet but i pulled in a licoln town car and ran jjumpers to the positve and neg connectors...
just need help with this one thanks
**EDIT** okay so i am still having the same problem , still not starting. turning over but not starting. things i have checked...
~grounds all engine ground are now grounded
~fuses on the passenger side shock tower, all good
~gas: it was outta gas but i put about a gallon in and it registered on the fuelgauge
~gas seems to be getting to the spark plugs they smell like gas and seem a little wet
~i put brand new spark plugs in it
~ checked the wires for continuity
~ checked each wire to make sure it was getting spark, everything seems to be working
~ although i did move the one ground that comes from the battery to on top of the chasis rail, but its still in the chasis... i have no freaking idea what it is now
if its cranking over, getting spark, all the grounds are grounded (did i miss a ground?), and i can hear the fuel pump turn on what else can it be?

it should start the way you have it as long as the enging harness is grounded to the motor. i would start by checking for fuel and spark. did you ever take the dizzy off? i know what its like to drop a new motor in and want to start it but no start
actually the guy i bought the motor from did take the dizzy off and them put it back on when he decided to sell it to me... i have another that i know came off a running vehicle should i just slap it on there? coud i just slapp it on there? or do i need to get a seal?
how easy is it to check for fuel?

ok im gonna bet the dizzy is on 180 off so start by checking for spark. to check for fuel turn the key to the on position but dont crank it and listen closely near the back seat youll hear a whining noise almost thats your fuel pump priming. if you have a timing light just hook it up to each wire and crank and look for the light or take the plug out and see if it sparks while you crank. you wont need a seal it shouldnt leak but most will tell you to get a new one but i never do.
its hard fo me to get a friend to come down and help becuase the time i have off isn't the same as my firends ... most of us work full time at different times ...
if I am not mistaken I think the dizzy only goes on one way. One thing that you could try is priming the fuel system. Might take about 4 or 5 primes to get fuel into the chamber. Also another thing you might check is the that you did the harness correct.
can't be the harness... i didn't switch to obd1 its still obd0 just plug n play... all are hooked up, i am thinking i didn't connect the thermostat housing ground?.... i have been reading other threads similar to this same problem,
would that one ground be enough to make it not start...? it seems that the only ground i have right now is the one that goes from neg bat. terminal to the chasis to the tranny ... is there others besides the one on the valve cover? up in the front?
and again is that one ground enough to make it not start?... also is that ground ON the thermostat housing piece? just to clarify

the ls harness isnt plug n play to the hf connecters. Also that gound is needed to be there for it to run. I forgot 'what it goes to but that was once my anti theft device.
theres a ground that goes n the tranny and another on the thermostat housing, the one form the battery and the one in fornt by where the ac **** goes
update:**
i hooked all the grounds up and still nothing... then i took my other set of plug wires hooked them up ( these i know work) and took all the plugs out to see if they fire... and only number 1 was firing.. and fuel is getting to them... so i went out and bought new plugs. if its the distributor i have another that i know will def work .. but after i test the plugs

you try marking the position of the dizzy and slightly turning it clockwise/counterclockwise, it might be off just enough ?

Did you get the ground on the transmission?
Check your firing order too!
Check your compression
If your getting fuel and spark, and have good compression and it wont turn on then your timing has to be the culprit here.

yea do that too but did you check to see if the dizzy is 180 off? i can be but on 180 off cause ive done it before. get the motor at tdc and take off the dizzy cap and see if the rotor is at the number 1 plug wire.

heres a suggesstion from my understanding this is an old motor. (91 ls ) remove the valve cover and check to see if the Tbelt is not broken because if the belt is broken cranking the motor will bring even bigger problems. If your not sure if the dizzy is on correctly ,just check that it sit flush against the bolt holes. I f its 180 off the dizzy will not sit flush. To check for fuel just crack the line at the fuel rail and if u think it not enough pinch off the return hose
good luck
good luck
GOT IT STARTED!!!! i swapped out distributors... i have to take a look at the one i took off... i don't think its put together right... i finally started my car... now to dial it in ...
Man, my friend had the same problem. It crank but doesn't fire up. We double check all the grounding and etc... It seems like you solve the problem by replacing the distributor, but that didn't help my friend. The only thing left was the timing belt and were going to work on it tomorrow.

i am not sure because i was to excited in the start... i had to leave and go get drunk... but i will check it... i think it was on the old one... will it throw a code 8 if the dizzy is 180 off? becuase the old one fired on every spark wire
