Default Stupid swap question?

I know im probably gonna get flamed for askin this but here goes nothin.... I have a 92 cx (blown engine) my local junk yard has a d16z6 can i just drop the engine in without changin over tranny and axles and all that good stuff? Or do I have to get the full swap to put the d16 in? I know ill have to change ecu in order to run vtec but i was mainly cocnerned about the tranny, axles, shift linkage, and other components. Any help would be appreciated. And try not to flame me too bad. Thanks

U believe so what? That I can just drop the engine itself in or that i have to change tranny and axles and shift linkage?

you didnt specify what motor you have in your civic..is it stock or not? if its stock yes you can just drop it in..

You can just drop the motor in w/o changing axles, tranny or shift linkage. It would be better if you changed the tranny to the z6 one because they are a little better

I have the stock d15b8 in it now? So the D16z6 will bolt right up to the d15b8 tranny and i can keep the same axles and shift linkage? SO the only thing that i will need to change is the ecu?

since you have a 92, wiring should be pretty simple because I believe 92 civic have vtec partly wired (from ecu to engine bay harness). try this link out:

If you can get the entire swap relatively cheap I would buy the entire thing. It'll save you from having to pull the one transmission off of the old motor and putting it onto the new one.

But yes, you can buy just the motor and everything will bolt right in. You may have to run a couple of wires from your harness to the VTEC solinoid.

Should be relatively simple and straight foreward.
