ls ecu for d16a6
i did a searg but found results of a b16 ecu into a d16 but i aint talkin about b16. i got a d16a6 in my 89 si hatch and finish up my turbo project. all thats left is i need an ecu and conversion harness. i was lookin at purchasin the p28 ecu but thought to myself why get a ecu equipped with vtec when i dont have vtec. so on the other hand i thought of purchasin the 94-95 integra ls ecu non-vtec and than the obd 1 to obd 0 conversion harness. this is the first time im learnin how to do this, could anyone tell me if this could work, what would be better, or how to go about this, THANKS
You don't need to use some ecu from another car...that's the most halfassed way to handle a turbo.
Converting to obd-1 and getting a p28 ecu is a good solution IF you're going to be running a programmable ecu.
You can skip the obd-1 coversion and run a regular PM6 (stock crx si ecu) if you socket the ecu to run a program called Turboedit.
Go to PGMFI.org and start reading.

contact xenocron or go to http://www.xenocron.com and have him chip your stock ecu. then get it tuned somewhere.
man if i wanted to chip my ecu i would have asked about chippin it, but i dont want to bc im gonna sell it non chipped and was lookin for some answers about doin the conversion.
but of course people on honda tech once again dont read my statement entirely and see what im talkin about has NOTHING to do with chippin my ecu, THANKS

in that case, run your b18 ecu with your turbo setup, in stock form, and then come back here and show us pics of the carnage.
we are telling you the RIGHT way to do it. if you dont want to listen thats fine. i hope you have a lot of money.
i fail to see how adding a turbo to your car has nothing to do with chipping your ecu, or otherwise allowing a method of adjusting the fuel and timing tables.. no stock honda ecu can handle boost without some help.
you can also get an obd-0 pr4 ecu (aka obd0 ls ecu) that will just plug into your obd0 harness. so you dont need to do a conversion.. but.. your still gonna need extra fuel. good luck...

ok ok ok, now i was lookin at chips now that yal got me on that subject. a friend told me its possible to keep my stock pm6 ecu and chip it with a chip from ebay. i have a place i can get it tuned so will his way of tellin me how to go about it work or is there something else involved?
NO NO NO NO NO. you cannot chip your turbo car with an ebay chip and expect it to not blow up. SEND IT TO XENOCRON he'll make your car not blow up. pm him on here and ask him about it he will explain why the ebay chips do nothing and he can make your car run RIGHT. i had my single cam chipped and tuned by him. i made 206 whp. i had my DA chipped by him and its running perfect till i get it tuned by him. My friend's car and my car are still running just perfectly fine, and he chipped both of our ECUs. I fail to see how you will always blow something up just because you bought the **** off of ebay.

not all chips are created equal on ebay. on the off chance that someone who knows what they are doing is programming the chip with knowledge of what car the chip will go into, then they could probably get you a base map that would be sufficient to allow you to drive your car to the tuner safely. for people who are na, they can just use the map from the stock car and give tricky features like launch control and all that, so you essentially have a stock map with modifications that are not to the fuel or ignition.
the reason ebay chips are notorious is because most of the people selling chips on ebay are dudes that think advancing timing and adding more fuel and removing the rev limiter is a great idea for making a car fast. i would say better than 3/4 of the people on ebay do exactly this and that is the problem.
xenocron is one of the people around here who can do it the right way. kenji is another honda-tech person/company that is, i assume knowledgeable about the subject and performs ecu chipping and basemap services.. so check both of them out for competative prices. but the key really is tuning. every car is different i believe is the cliche thats tossed around here, but its true.
by no means will you ALWAYS get a bad chip from ebay, but common sense says you should probably check out the map they put on the rom before you run it in your car to see exactly what is changed.

I was trying to say that trying to find a stock ecu that's going to meet your unique needs would be fruitless. And whatever you settled for would be barely adequate. THe best solution is "chipping".
By chipping...I don't mean using an Ebay chip. I mean putting a socket on your ecu's board and making your own custom chip(s) for your application with something like the Turboedit program. Did you even visit pgmfi.org?

That's what we did. I thought the guy up there meant that all _BLANK_ chips on ebay were garbage. We bought blank chips and a ROM burner and my friend did the soldering of the sockets. We spent a great deal of time on turboedit modifying maps and timing and other things. I do agree that the life of your car is in the hands of the tuner. That is definitely correct.

I don't how much clearer to say it: go to pgmfi.org
Nevermind...you appear too retarded.

hey you kno what, i thank yal for the info but i aint much of the electric kind of guy...IM SORRY ..apparently you cant ask a question on honda tech without someone sayin something about your knowledge and thats why i thought on discussion forums i can find help.....BUT HEY THANKS anyways
i aint much of a honda guy, just tryin to fix up my beater...maybe thats why im a true american muscle guy bc dicks like you gotta go out and call me retarded, stick it where the sun dont shine...ya hear?

Ohhh....a muscle car enthusiast. Say no more.
You made a post and were pointed to a resource that would have answered ALL of your subsequent questions.
The fact that you either ignored the advice or didn't bother reading led me to the retard conclusion. Nevermind that you type like a 3rd grade drop put.
And don't ever apologize for being retarded. Its just not right.

I'm sorry i must be the retard, considering the fact that i can spell third grade drop out. And i did pay attention to the link but it had nothing to do with what i was looking for. I was looking for a answer, then you have ******* that like to jump to conclusions call people retarded or tell them to search. You know what expletive that...its a TECHNICAL forum, therefor i ask technical questions. THANKS
Ps WHY THE expletive CANT ANY ONE JUST GIVE ANSWERS ANYMORE ITS ALWAYS THE EASY WAY OUT- SEARCH

ok ok ok...so now im being told that the best way to go about my business is to chip or socket my stock ecu instead of converting it to a p28 obd 1. than what would i do in my case of the turbo? FORMULA91 said go with a pr4. would that work in my case as long as i get it chipped or what? i really dont know much about how to go about gettin the right ecu and whether or not converting or chippin or what? thats why i post on honda-tech, THANKS.
Okay...I'll try and only type small words.
Let's assume you decide to socket your stock ecu...good for you, it is pretty much the best solution.
Now you can put any chip in there.
The stock chip has a series of tables that tell the car how much fuel to use at specific rpms and what not. There are a another set of tables that adjust timing.
Now since you have a turbo, you're going to need more fuel...you need a way to adjust those tables. There is a program called Turboedit that does this. When your finished modifying how much more or less fuel you want, you put those tables on a new chip. Then put that new chip in the socket on your ecu. When the car is running, its reading those new fuel tables and giving your turbo more fuel.
PGMFI.org is dedicated to this form of ecu modification. Its very complicated and indepth...if you expect the answers to all your questions to be gift wrapped, well, it usually ain't gonna happen.

chipping it is the answer to the question you just asked... you prety much asked what ecu to use, asn we answered... a chipped one a.k.a custom is the best way... not a certain ecu
i would recomend converting to obd1 simply because from what i hear they are more tunner friendly than obd0 they have more peramiters to keep an eye on the engine and converting and tunning in obd1 you can control the engine managment more
but hey im a n00b to turbo and tuning im still doing alot of homework on the subject so can anyone confirm this

Good. I hope it works out for you.
And some unsolicited friendly advice for any future technical help you need:
People, especially the ones that have been around here for awhile and can answer your questions accurately, don't like having to spell out every little detail to someone that appears too lazy (or retarded) to either accurately search or utilize the resources they've been given...whether its intentional or not.
I personally find it borderline insulting when I take the time to reply and the person appears to ignore the advice. Especially when I'm right.
And then compound the insult with sentances full of "i, u, wud, yal...etc" makes you come across in a less than favorable light. There's a difference between a simple one time typo and repeated use of the Moronese language. Pseudo short hand typing is suitable for a mobile device or IM, not a full forum.
