DX wiring harness Q
I am putting a dx motor out of a 91 dx in an 88 dx shell....I am tryin to reuse the wiring harness in the shell...(it had a turbo b16a in it so it is hacked up)...but on the drivers side plug the one from my 91 dx motor has one extra wire than the one on the car side of the harness. it has one extra green plug and I was hoping you guys could tell me what it was.
do you have any pics and do you have the other plugs in there proper spot. I think the green plugs are for the dual injectors. get some pics so we can help
sorry I have no pics and must have done a bad job explaining it...there is a green wire that goes into the main plug on the drivers side (11 prong I think car is at home) but the plug on the car does not have a wire at that spot coming out of it....
For the MPFI's at least, I know that the 88-89 engine wiring harnesses are different than the 90-91. Im not so sure about swapping between DX harnesses but it could be the same sitiuation.
Rule of thumb is to use ( and modify if need be ) the original harness from that shell or chassis.
Or as my customer's hear from me:
"Try to keep the VEINS with the body, you are just replacing the HEART."
( One of the many HAND COMMAND analogies that I use to explain things to my customers..........hehehehe )

yeah it is the 14 pin plug on the drivers side...it is just green.....the harness from my 91 dx motor has it and the 88 dx shell does not....if you are looking at the back of the 88 harness there is three of them not used on the bottom row on the 88 side while only 2 are not used on the 91 dx engine side...sorry this is hard to explain wish I has a camera
Its for sure green and black... Its for the backup switch. Neither harness is an auto, am I right?? The iacv location for 12v power shares that position on the 88 harness. If you want to call me I can explain more...
what happens is that on the 90-91 the position in question (next to the orange tandem valve wire) is the 12v+ for the iacv, and on your harness the 12v+ for the iacv is in a shared position in the ugly brown plug on the pass side firewall... so it frees up a position on the 88, so Honda put the green/blk wire there...
get it?

ok so I am getting it...should I just run a wire straight from there to the ECU and I will be good? what pin does it go to? are there any other wiring differences between and 88 and a 91 wiring harness?
