EEEEK! Car won’t start after swap-Looong post
I bought a 1990 Civic Si and it came with a D16A6 that was making a bad noise from the bottom end and figured it was a bad crankshaft bearing so pulled it out. The person I bought the car from had a D15B8 engine that I also bought for really cheap in case I needed it, I did. I know the D15 is a slow engine but I just needed the car running and thought it would have good gas mileage.
Back to the problem. One thing I noticed on the back of the A6 there are two plugs, one has two prongs and the other has one. On the back of the B8 there is only the one prong plug so I’m not too sure what these are for but I’m guessing they have something to do with the oil pressure and so I only hooked up one of them.
To do the swap I left the original intake in the car and used the Si tranny and hope this ok, the new engine came with an intake but I’m not sure what car it’s from or if it was usable. Right now the engine is in the car and the install went ok, the engine was able to start after the install but would idle really high (about 2-3k RPM) and kind of sputtered a little and sometimes would cut off. All grounds were checked and look good so far and should be ok. I also thought the distributor was bad so I took a good one off my CRX and put it on the Si and no change.
Fast forward to last week and I tried to start the car and nothing, there is a really loud chatter from the left side drivers compartment and is most likely the main relay. I grabbed the good relay from my CRX and try starting the car again and it won’t start and I notice that the check engine light is blinking rapidly and the ECU light is constantly on. I swapped the old relay back to the Si and the chattering stops but the check engine light is still on and so is the ECU.
I looked under the hood today and noticed there was some gas spilled on the intake and it looks like it was coming out of one of the injectors (the second to the right injector). I then checked to see if the fuel pump was working and turned the car on while I listened in the back to hear any kind of noise, I couldn’t hear any noise coming from the fuel pump. I checked the manual for the troubleshooting of the fuel pump and put a jumper on the relay plug and tested the voltage on the plug for the fuel pump and it tested good.
So now I’m kind of stuck and not sure what to do, I don’t think the ECU is bad because I’ve swapped it out with a good one and no change. I kind of suspect the main relay but I tried another good relay and there was no change. I am suspecting the fuel pump because there is no noise coming from it where there should be so maybe the engine isn’t getting any fuel to start.
Any suggestions or other things to check out would be appreciated.
P.S. I’m missing the sensor that goes under the distributor, the smaller one I guess it’s for the temp gauge since the gauge is all the way at H. I’m going to try and put it back on tomorrow but the wire got ripped out of it so I’m not sure.

Termostat ground looks good, I didn't put a new gasket on but i could probably pick one tomorrow and put it on.
I haven't checked the resistor box or the injectors. I checked the manual and could test the resistor tomorrow but not sure what or how I would check the injector wiring?
