Default Window Molding Flaking Off...What to do? 99-00 Civic

I'm pretty sure plenty of you guys have had the same problem. Mine is starting to flake off and the chrome stuff is showing and it just looks nasty. It's the piece right by the window. So what can you do or did you do?

You can paint it, or you can purchase new moldings. If I remember correctly they are about $60 a side.

If chrome is showing from behind the paint, someone prob tried to paint over it and it's flaking because the paint has a hard time sticking to that surface. Is this a used car?

Actually all 6th civics come with chrome moldings, dx,hx,cx,ex had them painted black by the factory. It does not mean someone painted them.

no pics sorry, you want to sand it so that its smooth though and clean the surface really good so the paint sticks. It held up for a year then he sold the car, so i have no idea how it looks now

Mine has the chrome trim... I don't mind that much, it doesn't look too bad and it doesn't look dead.

One more thing, I went to the store today and they had Duplicolor in flat black and glossy black trim paint. Which would be better to get? Car is a 99 Civic.
