Hi, i was wondering if i can make a short shifting by just simple cutting the shifter.. would that cause any damage to the car?

i did that on my stock shifter, just cut the shifter in half added a short shift adapter

the throw was a lot shorter, but gears became hard to get into.

just do it right the first time and by a true short shifter, i have the pspec and i love it.

By just cutting the shifter down you are doing nothing to shorten the throw, all you are doing is making it harder to shift because you will have less leverage

the throw will be shortened some by shortening the lever

think of it this way, what part of the lever has to move the farthest? the top or the bottom most?

The distance your hand moves will be shorter, however nothing else will actually change. If you look at a short shifter vs. a stock shifter you can see where the difference is, let me try to find a pic.

yes i realize nothing else will change, a true short shifter changes the position of the shift cables to reduce the amount of movement it takes to get into each gear, but it also shortens it to reduce movement even further.

Don't waste your time, it is worth the price buying a new short shifter.
Why waste time hacking off....
Looks mean nothing. you can buy one for under $100
