Default thinking about buying a prelude

i've owned a del sol for the last 3 years and wanna move onto something nicer, and isn't as much of a thief magnet. so i've narrowed it down to a 97-01 honda prelude. i plan on selling my del sol for $3000 and using that towards the car. so i looked around and found one for sale.

a guy locally has a 97 prelude in silver for sale. its pretty much stock besides lowering springs and intake. car has roughly 96k miles on it and is pretty clean inside and out. only bad thing is the car had some front end damage on the car, and everything got fixed but insurance company branded it with a rebuilt title. he wants $6800 for it. what do you guys think?

Make sure it's had the timing belt, balance shafts belt, waterpump replaced.

I'd check the pads and rotors too. They don't last as long as you'd think.

If everything is in great shape, take it! It's a good deal.

btw - Go Seahawks!

a rebuilt title pretty much means the car is worth 1/2 of what it would normally sell for.

a rebuilt title means the car will be harder (and more expensive) to insure, and it'll be harder to sell...especially if your buyer is in a state like Wisconsin where any vehicle with a rebuilt/salvage title is subject to an inspection by the state dept. of transportation before they'll allow you to register/title the vehicle.

then there's always the problem with not knowing how much damage their was, and how properly the repair work was done.

Just an FYI.

Lets not get carried away

I would have to disagree with most of that, esp the dash!

anyways, as far as your original question AzntaggeR, I would try and stay away from a rebuilt title. sure it is cheaper, but when you go to sell it, it will be much more difficult to sell and you will be kicking yourself for buying it. Just fork over a bit more money and get a clean title
