b18c5 questions
Currently I own a 90 DX with a b18c5, IHE, y1 tranny, and pr3 ecu. I'm about to swap this into my 91 SI, and was wanting to know if there is a better tranny and ecu combo than this. Also, my y1 does not have the LSD. Does a LSD really make that much of a difference, and if so would I be better off trying to find a tranny already with the LSD or go with an aftermarket one like a quaife?
Yeah get a better ecu..That pr3 is completly wrong for that motor..Get it chipped with BRE and tune it or convert to obd1 and run maybe a chipped p28 with B18c5 timing/fuel maps..
And about the tranny the LSD will help alot..You can get something aftermarket and put it in or maybe try and find a tranny with a stock LSD,.Check the classifieds on here for that..

Absolutely nothing wrong with the PR3. Just have it chipped with something like a Mugen program, get an FPR and most definitely take the car to a dyno, otherwise you would be wasting money. I made 182 HP with my old bone stock B18C5 with a PR3 and mugen chip. Alot cheaper than going OBD1 also.
FTW? Not sure what that means???
Anyway, would I be better off trying to find a ys1 vtec tranny with lsd or y1 with lsd. Which will provide quicker acceleration? Thanks in advance.

I'm going to assume "ftw" meams for the wealthy....what ever, its not much if you sell off the obd0 stuff.
The YS1 is better than any other cable b series gearbox including the Y1. It uses a newer style clutch like the newer hydro tranny's do, it has the best gearing, it has much less grinding problems than other models, and if you do need parts, they can be had at any local honda/acura dealer.

it cost $114 to convert (wireing wise) and from what i hear obd1 is alot easier and better to tune because it is alot more compatable with certain programs and also has more peramiters that can be changed
someone correct me if im wrong im in the middle of converting to obd1 myself

Why bother even buying an adaptor? Just go to your local pick-and-pull and get the plugs from a 1990-1995 Accord or a 1992-1995 Civic, Prelude, or Integra (people tend not to touch the Accords, so these are generally your best bet). Then use one of the many wiring guides on the internet to wire them to your car. It's really not that hard. You can save your money for other things. And you don't have to worry about trying to stuff an adaptor harness down there with your ECU.
Hardwired plugs > Adaptor harness.
