theirs no hardcore reason...
personally i feel the s2000 was made for a limited audience. their was no need for different trims. its either you like the car or you dont.

That is kind of a good question... hmm, cause they do make NSX-R's too... hmm.
I think it's because Honda tried to build a great car out of the box, and they succeeded! That's why the car comes with a red valve cover
No need to make different trim levels when the standard car is built like an R!

Does being badged a Type R make a car some type of magical performance monster?
Sure, the ITR is an amazing car....but I get fed up with a R badge being so abused by ricers. Its like it some type of reason to beat off or something. "OMG....its an R!!!!"....or "is it a Type R???".
Between Type R and VTEC I am not sure which is more important to those who see badges, stickers, and mufflers as evidence of superior performance.

I dont think he was reffering to just "the badge" rookie.

Neither am I.
The S2000 is a great sports car as is. How much better can they make it? An R version would have to add FI to justify its existence.

I understand your gripe, I see all these kids (ricers) who trip over this idea of racing a Type R to see what it can do, or prove they can beat it.... or just try and make their EF hatchback somehow look like one HAHA. I see it everyday driving mine
But to back up the other side of that statement, I have always had a tremedous love for type R's (in a non-ricer way). I know I own something rare, I usually go weeks of driving without seing another one. S2000's are just another car when I see one... but i still made a good point with my S2 comments earlier

Waaaaaait. Isn't are seats made by recaro? juss like the CRX Seats and Del Sol Seats. They were also made by Recaro. Juss not tagged.
and yes i do agree, the cars already bad *** soo there was no need for a "R". Looks, Styling, Handling, and performance. Spectacular. all in one package. buuuut.......thas what I though about the NSX. It's handling, It's power, It's stylish lines. I though It couldn't get any better, Until honda made an NSX-R. I guarantee as a fact, that if there were a s2k-R, more S2K'er's would be all over it. Am I right? btw, s2k-R does sound pretty sick though

Maybe the simple answer is that there is just no need for one yet. I mean, the NSX-R didn't come until years later. Maybe Honda is planning a S2000-R somewhere in the horizon. And plus, if there is going to be a R version, it better supercede the S2000 by a long shot... otherwise I don't know how they are going to get people to buy one.

Incredible the ignorance that spews from this post...have you ever driven a Boxster or Boxster "S"? Let me answer that for you...its very obvious that you havent. I have a friend with a 2002 Porsche Boxster S...i bet he'd LOVE for you to call it a bitch car and explain to him how he only got it to say he has a porsche. hahahaa. The Porsche Boxster is a legitimate and potent sports car...when you grow up and quit living on the stereotype bandwagon, you'll have an appreciation for cars and you'll quit letting the sheep of the world influence your thought with "rumor" or assumption.
I cant believe this is being argued on here...why wasnt there an S2000 Type-R? Because there didnt need to be...period.

In that same light, people act like the NSX-R is some widely produced and purchased car. Its not...hell, the regular NSX is incredibly limited in production.
The only cars that were sold with any legitimacy in an "R" trimline were the Civic, Integra and Accord...all of which are regular plain jane cars, and by offering an "R" model, gains the attention of the performance people. The S2000 had its audience without a special sticker or red seats.

^^^ Implying that my own post is incredibly ignorant? Explain please...explain to me what about my post was inaccurate...or ignorant.
The Type-R cars are performance versions of a regular economy car...the civic, integra and accord are all entry level cars...(the accord being a little on the fence now given its greatly improved aspects over the years)...you upgrade performance on those and you badge it "R" and you make the car appeal to the performance crowd. The S2000 didnt need that...it already appealed to the the performance crowd...and adding an extra $5,000-$10,000 to the price tag for a few tweeks here and there i just dont see being either smart or worth while...
The NSX-R was so limited in production, its hardly something to include in a discussion on why the S2000 didnt have an "R" trim line somewhere in the world, the S2000 (while a sports car) is a car that the masses can afford...most people cant afford the regular NSX, much less an R badged performance edition, so discussing Type-R S2000's will leave you with the main 3...the civic, integra and accord.
