I found a white powdery substance coating the spring perches of my Koni yellow shocks. It looks like the same stuff I found on the zinc hardware underneath my S2K antenna. It's also the powdery stuff you may find on a chain link fence that's been out in the weather. Should this be any cause for concern? I hope it doesn't start to rust or corrode. Perhaps the substance will help protect it from corrosion? Any thoughts?
theres no good corosion. if allowed to continue, the metal will have a pitted surface where the dust was and become brittle. i see it all the time in aircraft. pretty common. just clean it up with alchohol and put some kind of water displacing spray anti corosion spray on there. you could try some kind of grease possible too but that will trap all the dirt from the road in there.
