I have not seen many or read articles on what upgrades can be made to a D series tranny, aside from the existing...

Light-flywheel
Preassure plate
Clutch disc
Quaife LSD (aftermarket for a non LSD D series tranny)

Aside from those only possibility is a hybrid rebuild, i hear about those all the time.

A better clutch and flywheel are good advice but I really don't consider them part of the transmission. They're not internal...

LSD...do some research to help determine what type best suits your needs. I say Quaife if you can afford it.

Hybrid gear ratios or just "better" final drive

Gearspeed has a bunch of stuff like carbon synchros and ultra high quality bearings

You can look at cryo forging the gearsets, shifter forks and synchros for additional strength and longevity.

http://www.racegearbox.com can help convert your synchos to dog engagment. This allows excellent longevity, and smoother, high rpm shifts. You can even shift clutchless, if you so desire. They can also make individual gears and final drives. Ask for Jamie.

Torco MTL is a great upgrade for lubrication (www.torcousa.com)
