Tryin to reach 180whp.
Alright guys iam tryin to reach my goal of 180 whp on a b-16. My mods are in sig. She recently put down 167 whp with a bad cap/rotor. It has a stock intake mani and a shitty dc 4-2-1. I ave been lookiat the replica jdm type r headers like megan and a aebs i/m. Could i reach my goal with these????
Get a new tuning program, that silly vafc can't control timing and with the compression you are running that isn't a smart move. As far as 180, I would upgrade to a more aggressive cam with your compression to hit 180whp.
A great header is where your power will be made the most. I an aebs im will be good and crome. I think you will get that 180 you are looking for but its all in the header. I would go as far as a bigger tb maybe.

I have a itr throttle body, and thanx for the comments guys keep'em comin. So the vafc must go? Decided not to buy megan header after i heard they have thin metal on the tubing.Looking at the jdm dc 4-1 now.
what are you revving 3rd gear to?? if it's 9000 max, keep your b16 intake manifold, you'll make more area with that. just get a type-r throttle body and bore your intake manifold to 62mm.
go with a 3" exhaust and a 2.25" collector. im just saving you money, because if you wanna use a type-r manifold, you'll have to spin it to about 9500 but the same hp, but you won't make any more speed because of the lower flatter tq curve. and forget about the AEBS manifold, way too big IMO.
SAE corrected, i made 171@8200 and about 118 tq from 6000-7500 rpms, but my header was a 4-1 with a 2.5" collector. that's too big, so there was more power to find in the same rpm range. something with a 2.25" collector that steps out to 3" will give you the best results.
....unless you like peak numbers only...

bigger and better header, change the IM, hondata (or uberdata, chrome whatever) instead of afc.
That should hit it.
Bigger cams will work better on your motor too. 2.5" exhaust will help to. Sounds like a strong motor. possibly could hit 185-190whp

defently get a new matifold (skunk2 or AEBS) should pick up prolly another 5 hp. Changing the header will help alot too.
Could also try to run a velocity stack intake, people seem to gain nice numbers from it.

Yea i noticed that also. I think he was tuning conservatively. So a new manifold has just been ordered today. Still thinkin about the header though. Any input?

which header???
which header???
There was a noticable increase in the sound, also it felt as if the car ran a lil better in between 6000 and 7000 rpm. Could be do to the fact that i was runnin rich at the time.
