Default Skunk 2 Manifold

I have been hearing 2 sides, but if i put it on then it will kill my low end right??? but y would someone wanna do this when the GSR's peak at 7600 or so. Im just curious, so if im wrong someone please correct me, but im saying if GSR's have real good top end then why would u wanna kill your low end??? Im asking this question because i was interested in buying the manifold but i dunno know... TIA

your low end is killed with the skunk2 if your running the stock cams & ecu (kills the IAB)

otherwise, you will gain everywere

Dang are you serious? I thought the stage 2 cams would make up for the loss?

Without cams i personally felt the mod was worthless

First off the labor is a bitch
Second the gsr vtec crossover is to low and ITR Ecu crossover is too high
Third you will need a vtec controller to change the x-over to about 4800-5000

I raced my fathers GSR and no pulls anywhere throughout power band it was pretty close til 3rd when i (ever so slightly ) started to pull to half a car length

His GSR was stock mine had VAFC, S2IM, Icebox

yeah, very much so ... plus you save good wieght when compared to the gsr intake manifold. May people get fooled by low end wiht the butterflies ... but if you're a constant racer always in top end who cares, if you drive your car daily from 1-5krpm prolly never at WOT, why would you care if you have low end if you're not racing ? whole point is, for the average racer, butterflies are always open past 5750rpm because aside for 1-2 shift you're always above that anyway ...

I've done a lot of these motors and the difference in gsr ecu/gsr manifold to single stage ecu/skunk2/type r manifold is about 2-3/10ths in the 1/4 mile and a whole 1.5 cars in a street race !!!
take my word for it ...

I have placed an order for this stuff and this is what I will be installing...

Skunk2 Intake
Skunk2 Cams - Level 2
Skunk2 Springs and Retainers (Keeping stock GSR Valves)
Skunk2 Cam Gears

I already have a VFAC but I will also be adding a Hondata Level 2 (Got a friend with level 4 so he will be burning me a chip after I get some dyno time). I plan on yanking the head off to do this operation to make the intake and spring upgrade easy. While I'm going that I will be also upgrading the head studs (ARP) and replacing all the gasgets. I was going to upgrade the pistons to ITR but I decided to hold off on that. But then again that depends on what I see when I pull the head off.

actually no other modifications is required when upgrading the manifold, just that other mods such as bigger camshafts, upgraded valvetrain, adj cam gears, better flowing and designed header all complement the intake manifold design, i.e. when the japanese aftermarket companies make products like headers or camshafts, companiels like Spoon, Toda, Cusco, Mugen, etc. they all try it with the b16a in mind, the manifold that comes with the b16a is similar yet smaller to the ITR or skunk2 intake. There is a reason for this.

I have a couple of used skunk2 intake manifolds for sale also along with valvetrain upgrades, etc. ... had to put the plug in there !!!

I have a brand new S2 IM here with me, and I'm going to install it in a week or two. I only have I/H/E and stock ECU. Will it hurt my times? Will it give me better times? I know I'll lose low end, but gain top end. I dont mind sacrificing my low end to gain top end, since Top end is what really matters in a race.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

No it wont hurt, but u might not notice that much of a gain but its definitley going too sound better. If you get a throttle body too then you will notice a nice difference, atleast I did.
