how many amps for 3/8 inch steel?

Default how many amps for 3/8 inch steel?

what kind of a mig would I need for that?

The rule is 1amp for every hundreth of an inch

So .25 uses 250 amps
Of .130 uses 130 amps..

A big one. A Millermatic would probably do 3/8 in a single pass, multipass would be better. I know for sure a 251 will do it in one pass.

I use a 300amp lincon welder.. 220v, its one of the biggest out there that runs on single phase power..

0.035 wire should do the trick as well.
