Default Stroker B16.....am I limiting myself with CTR cams?

Sorry if this has been covered before....I searched everything I could think of and came up empty handed....

Like the topic says, I have a second gen JDM B16 with a B17 crank, B17 rods, Stock JDM B16A pistons, port and polish and CTR cams. Head is not decked and I am running an OEM 3 layer headgasket. Other mods are an AEBS intake, AEM Hybrid CAI, JDM ITR throttlebody, and a DC 4-2-1 header into a full 2.5" exhaust.

My question is, for this setup am I undercammed? I haven't yet dyno'ed this setup and I just want to make sure I am not limiting myself. Also, before I run this motor all out, are my stock B16 valvesprings good enough to use with the CTR's? Or should I be upgrading to ITR?

Thanks in advance for any help.

i have a b17a with the similar mods and i put down 159.4 on a dyno that was at a 9%loss to dynojet so thats about 173 on a dynojet. just for reference.

No, stock B16 springs are not adequate. You may get away with it, but if you drop a valve, the results will be catastrophic. An economical solution is to use ITR intake outer springs with Portflow inner springs. If you have the lost motion assemblies with the small pointy looking tops, you should also change them out for ITR or GSR LMA's.

Thanks for the info....one question though....why is it advantageous to switch to GSR or ITR LMA's as oppsed to the B16 ones?

Edit: Nevermind....did some research and found the answer to my question

Well, I've seen type r's make 200+ whp with the right setup, but I don't think you'll be reaching that with this build. M22's will make more power, but I think with those mods the type r's are gonna give you a more usable powerband.

yeah....I see what you mean....thanks for the response. I'm not looking to get 200 whp. My goal is modest in the sense that I'll be happy with anything in the 150-160 whp range.....anything more would be gravy
