Default question about aluminum bodied cars and cages ie:honda insight and nsx's?

I was just wondering this the other day...This goes for any factory aluminum bodied car.

1st question: Is the entire body aluminum? If not how do they tie the aluminum body panels to the steel chassis?

2nd question: If yes, then how do people go about welding steel to it? Are only bolt in style cages allowed?

I started thinking about this because of seeing all the drag insights and I read somewhere that they are aluminum bodied. I'm just trying to put one and one together. Thanks in advance

I would guess that you could just bolt some 8"x8" steel plates to the chassis/body and then weld the cage to that.

the thing is the drag cars that i have seen seem to have the stuff welded into the chassis...I don't think that 9 second drag cars can have bolt in cages...makes my brain hurt

edit: here is a picture for some answers-

What I did was .I got some thick wall Alum. tubing that the 1 5/8 chromoly would slide in perfect. Then I welded a long piece of tubing to a hole saw and cut a 2" dia. hole through where ever it went through the alum. body. Then I slid the alum. tube in the hole and then the chromoly tube to make sure it was in the correct place. And then welded the alum. tube to the body or firewall or where ever it went through.

And see the octagon shaped stubs in the front of the car ? I made steel octagon shaped box's and bolted to the original holes in it.

YES THE WHOLE CAR.Well this one is. Even all the front susp.I weighed that car with the motor and trans and most of the stuff I could think of, That goes on it .And it was right at 1000 lbs. I figured when it was done . It would need about 900 lbs added to be legal in allmotor street class.
