Default F22/F20 head?

Hey guys,

After a long search I finally found an S2000 I'm going to buy. I'll have it sometime next week, at which point it will be time to start work on it so I can race it. The first thing is it needs a new motor, cause the one in the car right now has a blown bottom end (I think it's just the bottom end, we'll see). It's an '00 so it has the F20 in it. My question is is it possible to run a 2.2 bottom end with the F20 head on it? I want to keep the redline of the AP1s but I was thinking maybe by doing this I could get the torque of the AP2 to go with it.

Is it even possible to do this? If so, could the 2.2 bottom end handle the extra revs? I'm used to thinking in terms of B series and D series motors, where heads can easily be swapped, but I'm pretty clueless when it comes to F series motors.

Thanks,
Rick

a few guys in NY have been messing with this theory...

apparantly if you run an ap2 block with an ap1 head the ap2 block can rev to 9k. now their are many factors in this debate, like the ecu and what not.

ill stop with this because my facts are just rumors. i don't have any concrete info for you...

where is sideways2000 at?

It's not an AP1 head on an AP2. It's a full AP2 block (06 wont work) with an AP1 ECU.

From what I remember, the heads are completely identical except the cams themselves.

Since the ECU's are swapped, it required the immobilizer keys to be changed. That was about it. I believe the car is still running fine.

Even with the F22 head the motor still pulls well past 8k rpms. F22's power peak is at 7800, 8500 seems like a good cut-off for me. Would change cams if the current setup didn't run so well.

yea you can use the 22 block with the 2.0 head. Im pretty sure you have to change the head studs though.
