7th gen headlight bulb issue/ Auto-> manual swap
I purchased a set of high and low beam hyper xeon PIT bulbs to replace the stock ones. The spec sheet in my manual denoted low beam as HB4 and high beam as HB3. When I talked to a rep, the bulbs I got, H3HB and H4HB (which online were denoted as H3 and H4), he said they should fit fine. So when I was having my springs installed today, I had the guy help me out. When we took out the bulbs for both high and low beam, we discovered that the power inlet looks almost like a walljack, and it did not look like inlet for the new bulbs. My question is, once I return these, should I look for a HID kit (i've heard many bad things) a different bulb (but I couldn't find one's that matched online).
Next, I'm going to do a auto to manual swap (not myself). Any comments on parts needed for 7th gen, cost, trials/tribulations?

i bought this car 1 1/2 years ago without the faintest clue that I would be modding the hell out of it. Up until recently when I finally decided on going completely N/A, and swapping the RSX-S head in, was when I discovered that I would need a manual for ECU complications, not to mention the fact that I enjoy driving manuals more than autos.
He likes manuals more than autos, and he wishes he was fast. So what does he buy? A 4cyl. auto ?????. Did you pay for this car, with money you worked for?

I don't think anyone else is that dumb? They would at least wait until the warranty runs out.

I did not pay for this car. My parents payed for it with the thought of me taking it to college (they bought it end of sophomore year, im going up to carolina next year) and I intend to run this car at a minimum of throughout college. However, I have payed for every insurance payment, damage on the accident(s), and gas which adds up to 10G's over the last 2 years, which I have payed for by working the last 4 years. My parents paid the lease payments and the lease is up in May and theyre buying it out as a "college present" because I received an athletic scholarship.
When we bought the car I was more caught up in the fact that I was getting my first car rather than whether or not I wanted to build it.
PS, i figured out the headlight issue, they are 9006.

That explains it. I can't believe your parents haven't slapped you upside the head by now. If you didn't want the car like it is (slow and no manual) you should have let the lease run out. Then get something else.

My parents completely disprove of me "wasting" my money on car modifications, and I'm sure you will be the first person to second their thoughts. However, I think that it is the best money I ever spent.
No, it would have been impossible to give it back to them. I have intake, exhaust, wheels, tires, lowering springs, system. It would have been near impossible for them to take the car back, even if I put the stock airbox and springs back on. The only way I could do so is if I sold my car on CarMax.com or something of the like.
Unfortunately, I do not have infinite money, and swapping cars because my current one is slow and not the one I want is the furthest thing from my mind. So, I make do with what I have. But then again, why should I? I have a near brand new car with 20k miles on it? Why should I trade it for a 10 year old car with 100k+ miles on it?
Believe me, if I had thought things through, I would have held off on modding the car and bought a prelude or integra after the lease ran out.

He has no brain.
NO, I will not heed your advice.
If you can take anything out of what I have said in this entire thread and tell me how it is brainless, please do so?

OK
1. If you and your parents would have thought this out you could have gotten a manual in the first place. (and saved a little money to boot)
2. You claim you don't have much money. But you have spent a considerable amount on intake, exhaust, suspension, and tires.
3. You spend money (you claim you don't have) on headlight bulbs. When there is absolutely nothing wrong with the light output of the factory headlight bulbs. ( I can see perfectly well with stock headlights)
4. Then you say you want to spend some more money (that you don't have) to do a manual swap. (plus pay someone else to do it for you)
5. And after all of this, I bet you're still not fast.
Therefore I suggest a road-trip down the yellow brick road.

I have a sumly $336.83 left in my account, checked an hour ago.

The bulbs cost $23.99, I spend more on lunch in a week than that.

I'm in the process of saving, so I'm asking ahead so I can start collecting parts as the money becomes available.

No, you're probably right, I won't be fast, but at least I'll have a fun car to drive that looks nice.

Ok..seriously..bickering is not going to solve any problems here....Here is some constructive advice.
I have a 7th gen 5spd. It's slow....I have an intake, header, and i'm getting my exhaust done this week.
With what you plan to do, it will cost an assload of money, which is not good for a college student to be worrying about...I know, i'm almost a junior, and I go to one of the biggest universities in florida.
Auto / Manual swaps are not fun..I participated in swapping a M/T into my friend's DA integra..and for what I did it really sucked. End result was cool though.
About money issues. You're going to need a manual ECU, pedals, clutch master cylinder and related hardware, clutch interlock switch, and namely allot of other hardware that will be a NIGHTMARE to install. These issues are hard to deal with since 7th gen accords are so new. I'm telling you now....this is a pipe dream at least for now.
Last, but certainly not least, the manual swap isn't going to be very sweet since the car weighs 3144 lbs. Even if I dog my car and shift perfectly I cant keep up with anything at all...Thats why it sucks to have a modified 7th gen...you STILL can't keep up with anything....it sucks that a 14 year old Integra LS with a GS-R tranny spanks me continually, when I have a bigger, more advanced motor.
Lemme know if any of this helps...

Thank you, I did not want to bicker, but I don't like losing fights.
I plan on swapping the RSX-S head (k20a2) into my engine. Yeah i know its slow, believe me, but I oughta get a min 40-50 hp with the head swap. I know its going to cost money, I've got a guy who will do it all labor wise for 600 bucks(paragon customs off the 436 since your a florida boy i figured id let u know the place), then I just need the parts.
I kept up with an older 7 series all the way through 2nd but he pulled a lot thru 3rd and was a car ahead, but if your talking about modded Integras, Preludes, CRX, then no we lose.
I know I would need the RSX ECU, which would need a Hondata Kpro for another 600 bucks, so it's a long term goal. It's going to cost about 3 grand (estimate) after all is said and done, if not more.
I know everyone's question will be "why don't you get a turbo".
1. The upkeep will be much tougher and a good one will cost the same amount as all of this, plus I would need a new tranny to begin with because the Auto Tranny wouldn't be able to keep up with the stress.
2. After all is said and done, I could have a car with 225 crank hp, if not more, and a reliable one at that, that looks nice and gets the job done.
I basically need a parts list so I can look around for stuff, see if I need OEM parts or aftermarket parts, whichever is cheaper/efficient, then I can go about buying them and getting the swap done.
Thanks for your help man.

:shakes head:
The people are HT are getting worse and worse.
If the OP wants to make due with what he has, then let him.
If you want to try to convince him it's not worth it, than there are better ways to do it than by telling him he has no brain.
There are plenty of people on this board who started off with automatic 4-cyl Accords, who have since done 5 spd swaps. Cost/benefit analysis varies which each person, depending on ability to find inexpensive parts, personal attachment to the car, sastisfaction of accomplishing something themselves, personal preference, etc, etc.
Not everyone buys a car with the intentions of modding it. In the end, some people try to locate a car that is already a 5 spd, some swap trannies, some leave it automatic. Everyone has their reasons.
Oh, and about the money spent modding a car... Just b/c someone has numerous mods doesn't mean they have a lot of money. Every person out there can save up money for a mod one at a time, and every person can wait for a good deal on that particular mod.

i was once in your boat... got my 95 accord auto and a year later started modding it. then i swapped the tranny to 5sp. not difficult in a 95 accord at all. end result: i actually enjoyed driving the car, i felt connected to the car now, not just stepping on the pedal and yawning. granted, the car wasn't any rockets, but it was much more fun to drive. but, i was also semi broke and in college. it did cost a chunk of change, about $950 w/ me doing the labor. it was well worth it. only thing, is that if you need to spend around 3k bucks, you might consider just getting another accord of the same year, and transfering the stuff you have now into the "new 5sp" one. it will really only cost you time and hassle, not labor charges and what not. facts are facts, a 7th gen accord lx will be slow whether its got a manual or auto tranny. without forced induction, it simply wont be quick, no matter how bad you want it. so, take some advice from a florida college guy. start planning ahead, there are many ways to save money. don't spend so much money on food, cook stuff yourself. drive slower and save on gas.the more you save now, the more you have later
I won't go FI because I don't want to deal with the hassle and I'd rather have a reliable car that is higher powered than stock. Believe me, this is no race car.
I think I've reached the point in my car that taking parts of it to put on a new car might be a waste. No, it won't cost 3k for the swap, I was saying I was estimating 3k for the head swap, and manual swap. I'm getting someone to help me out, so I just need the parts list. Touring_Accord was nice enough to help me out in another post with a few hints and tips, but I am still without a parts list. If anyone has a parts list for a 7g, that would be great.

Believe me, I'm saving every penny I've earned for my car. Thankfully my dad is paying my expenses in college because I have a full-time job, being on the golf team and wouldn't have time for one if I wanted to pass. Update:
After getting a parts list, I called up my local auto-salvage store and to my luck they had a 5spd tranny in stock. However, it was only the tranny, and the cost is 800 bucks. So, after more searching, I located most of the necessary parts, and the total parts cost is going to be between 1400-1500 bucks. The swap shouldn't be ready to be done for 2 weeks, but when it's done, i'll post a thread with the stuff needed, any custom work needed etc etc.

try to get pics if you can, and you might want to consider getting one of the 6sp trannies (rsx-s, civic Si, tsx) might as well get the 6sp if you gotta get another tranny as it is. be sure to include pics of EVERYTHING
good luck.
good luck.
will those fit? I think the TSX has the same block (k24a2 on tsx, k24a4 on accords) just different heads, and the RSX-S is a little different right? I'd be interested in getting that, if it would work, and it isnt any more expensive, because as is the cost is quite high
.
I'll make sure to document it properly.
PS, what year did they start putting the k20a2 into the type S?

People are swapping trannies back and forth between K-series motors all the time. I'd be more worried about running gears that are too short. People love to run the RSX-S 6-spd b/c of how short the gears are, but most of the time these guys have motors that are revving higher than what a stock Accord is capable of.
If it was me, I'd probably go for the TSX 6-spd. Shorter gears than the Accord 5-spd, but not so short that you would be running high rpms while cruising on the freeway. Also keep in mind that when you run higher rpms, you WILL be burning more gas.
