h22 into 97 accord obd2
ok i want to swap an h22 into my accord obd2 ive search and i think im on the right track....i want to convert my obd2 to obd1...i read that the h22 bolts on to th accord chassis and that the h22 harness plugs the the accord harness ..but if i want to convert to obd1 all i need is the obd2 to obd1 coversion harness and the obd1 h22 ecu.....is tis right ....i need some input ......
you are somewhat right.
you will need a h22 prelude-drivers side motor mount( you will have to grind .75" off)
also you will need a h22(99-01 i believe?) prelude powersteering BRACKET to adapt your accord ps line to the h22.
as for the wiring harness, it DOES NOT just plug right in, you WILL have to do some cutting and soldering. my advice is to find someone who is good at wiring.
btw- the jdmshit.com obd2-obd1 conversion harness is literally ****. worst 60 bucks i have ever spent.

My buddy did my wiring. I dont know who told you that it was a direct plug in, but the harnesses are no-where close to being the same, you have to cut a lot of stuff and solder new connections. I have no idea what exactly he had to cut. lots of stuff.
really cause i read on sport compact car mag. that it is easyer to use the accord harness and just extend some wires and add the knock sensor and thats it.....but yo how does the swap feel, got any track times....pics?
the first time i drove the accord after the swap was done and we got vtec working, it was the best day of my life. night and day. but after a couple of months it starts to feel slow again. and you have to buy more parts.
best 2000 dollars i have ever spent though.

what is the average cost of swapping this h22 engine into a 97 lx accord? and is it worth the cost?...he jakeiscool, you know for your intake, where did you get the extension? i'm thinking about replacing my stock filter box with a K&N filter and attach it to my stock pipe instead of buying a new intake system.

1. here is a breakdown of what I paid:
Jdm h22a full swap: $1950
prelude drivers side motor mount: $30
jdmshit.com obd2-obd1 conversion harness: $60
2. a few things to consider:
I did not keep powersteering. In order to keep powersteering, you need a 97+ h22 powersteering bracket.
The average total I came up with is BARE MINIMUM and does NOT include things that I would recommend you replace on your h22 before you swap it in.
3. What I replaced before swapping it in.
Clutch, resurfaced the flywheel, distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs, spark plug wires, transmission fluid, motor oil and filter.
4. The swap is definately worth the cost. I would say it is the best bang for the buck out of any of the honda motor swaps out there. I couldnt even imagine having an f-series motor again.
As for the intake you were asking about, I did not buy an extension. I purchased an Apexi power intake and that silver metal tube actually screws into the back of the apexi filter.

did you swap the engine yourself. i don't know sh*** about swaping engines, so i would have to take it to the shop..wondering the price range on labor as well. and plus my car is a automatic, im going to have to change it to manual.
