95 civic, can I use....
95 civic dx, looking to get rid of the junk coilovers on the car and get a stock ride back. Going to be getting struts and springs. Can I use springs or struts off of a 00 civic? I have some laying around and before I buy other springs I wanted to see if I could use some of the crap that I have laying around.
Is this possible?
Is this possible?
fronts yes, rears maybe.
if the rears have washers to space out the rear mounting point then they will work.
The 92-95 has a wider lower mounting bushing in the LCA than the 96-00.
you can also bend it to fit if you really want to...

I don't know the spring rate differences so it's hard to tell.
logically coupe rear springs are a little stiffer than hatch rear springs.
but the fronts should be identical.
(other than the SI springs which will be stiffer due to the additional weight of the engine)

But the 00 springs will fit on the 95 strut? Or should I just use the 00 struts with the 00 springs on the 95 car.
It's my sisters car and i have never "swapped" springs from one year to another thats why i'm asking if they will fit. Any ride will be better than the one on her car now so stiffness won't be a problem if I use si springs. Just want to make sure they fit and if not i'll round up 95 stuff.

if you check out aftermarket shocks, they list the exact same ones for the front of 92-00 civics. So yes the springs are swapable to either generation shock.
unless you have a good spring compresssor I don't recommend doing this yourself. The stock springs have a lot of travel and tend to twist and pop out sideways with the crappy bolt type.
A press works great also.

Cool, yea I have the right stuff to do the springs, equipment, experience, knowledge, some ase certifications and all that stuff. I just never tried to mix springs up with different body styles. I've mixed all kinds of other parts but this is the first "spring swap" as far as from one year to another. Probably over the 100th time I've replaced sturts and springs so I should be ok.
Thanks for looking our for me tho and thanks for the help. Stay away from evo springs tho, they suck.
I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks
