Default how strong are stock H22 rods?

most people upgrade because of how cheap a set of Eagles can be had for so there isnt much info on this. But i want to know if people have actually tested stock rods to what hp? anyone have any first hand experience? Personally i would like to know. The H22 rod is not small, and definately doesnt look all that weak to me. Now that the Mahle gold series pistons available.....it makes someone curious as to how strong stock rods really are.

any experiences?

I'd like to know that same thing. Im thinking about going for a H22A turbo on maybe 9psi but I don't know if it will be able take it on stock internals and bottom end like my civic did. And Just wondering but don't h22a's put out like 260-275whp on 9psi? My B18B civic on 8.7 psi put out 222 whp and ran mid 12's. Mainly because it was so light. But what would a 260wheel lude run? With decent launch and driver? Thanks

They've been available for years now (the pistons).

Why be cheap? If you're changing the pistons - you might as well change the rods.

Probably no one has tested the stock rods because the OEM pistons always give first. So, they end up changing both.

DO NOT GO CHEAP when doing a build. Something will mess up. Just think, if you get a new set of pistons and keep the oem rods - and the rods give out. You will most likely have to replace the pistons again. So, change them both - period.

IF either of you boost -you're going to expletive something up guaranteed. You two have A LOT more research to do. A LOT!! Save yourself, and your car - and do some research.

"Don't ludes put out 260whp at 9psi?".......?......all turbos are different. Your statement lets me know that you don't know - excuse my french - ****.

i am curious as well, i think the determining factor will be the manufacture process. if they are made with powdered steel or cast they are most likely not strong enoguh to rely on.

while i amnot a cheap *** i also dont beleive in spendingmoney when you dont have to....
