what brand gas do you run in your prelude?
I was curious as to what people think is the best BRAND gas to run in the prelude. I run BP or Shell 93 octane. 91 is not available and it runs pretty good off of the 93. I am pushing about 11.1:1 compression. I have wondered if there are other brands of gas out there that are "better." BP is clear and i cant see why it wouldnt be very good for the engine.

I worked beside the Williams refinery for years. Every single brand of gas truck sits in the same line waiting to load whichever blend the EPA requires for their destinations. Don't be fooled by the hype. Choose a newer station that has the plastic tanks instead of older ones that have metal underground storage. Stations that get alot of traffic have fresher fuel and are less likely to have water in the gas. Alot of people on this site and others will say BP/Amoco is bad for Hondas. I've run Amoco exclusively for over 13 years and have never encountered a problem that could be attributed to gas.
my motor misfires and occasionally hesitates when I run BP gas, but runs just fine with shell or exxon. I've never heard of people saying BP gas is bad for hondas, but my car doesn't like it.

Thats correct. They all get the same base gasoline. Although they do add their own cleaning ect. additives into it. I run 91 Chevron.

While I can tell a difference in octane, I have never noticed any differences between any brands in the way any of my cars have run in 25 years of driving. The only difference I ever noticed was when we had to start running unleaded in our pre 1977 cars. If someone thinks their car stumbles with certain brands, could they also offer some sort of plausible explanation for these missfires given the fact that some say X brand runs like crap and another guy with the same engine says Xbrand runs great. Sounds like the placebo effect...... If I think it runs better, it does.
