unless you spend muchas dineros your paint will never be the same as stock if you get it repainted.....if its done by a good shop it will be close, i got mine repainted and i am happy with the results, the paint matches the color good and the shine is the same as with the rest of the car, but its just not the same as stock
I think that it's alright to get bumpers repainted, so long as the urethane isn't gouged.
I agree that it is hard to get the metal parts painted right.
Make sure you ask for flex additive in the paint so it doesn't crack and peel.
Warranty from the shop should be 5 years at least.
Check w/ the local Acura and other high-end car dealers for shops.
Get at least 2 recommendations for the same place and always discount the in-house dealership body shops unless independent sources also recommend them.
Look for ASE and I-Car gold class certification. Look around the shop to make sure it "feels" right by being clean, orderly, friendly, etc.

I've had parts of my car painted and now about a year later I can start to see changes more clearly.. I think my car will get a makeover in the future.
It will give me an excuse to get an OEM kit too.

Here is a pic http://monitor.r-p-m.com/01172002/sm_DCP_0655.jpg
That same url http://monitor.r-p-m.com/01172002/ has additional pics of my car after my accident and repair. The shop that repaired my car did an almost perfect job. The reason it is almost perfect is because their paint job looks better than my factory paint when I get close up. After a wash it looks wet. The remainder of the front was blended and detailed, but I know my factory paint sucks in comparison.
