front splitters
I do take my car out on the track. I just have it lowered with Falken Azenies 215 205/50/15. All I have is a OEM lip most people make there splitters out of a stock OEM and then attach aluminum to that goes around the curve of the bumper and then a flat piece underneath that attached with "L" brackets to the curved piece.
We made one for an EG and it was super easy. There are many different ways to do it. I know that there was a big thread on a front splitter by one of the guys out in NASA-AZ but he is FL (can't remember his screen name). He had ducts for the front brakes. It was on a yellow CRX.
I have also seen a lot of reinforced lawn edging too.
You can also see some CRX splitters here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1527195
Tyson may jump in here soon too with some other ideas.

if you want to buy a good proven and affordable one- http://www.roadracegear.com/
you really don't need to look any further than that.
there are lots of ways to make it though. for the splitter - abs is cheap and light. plastic corrugated sign material is a little less cheap and really light. stressed-skin aluminum or nomex honeycomb with aluminum or carbon outers is really stiff and light but not at all cheap.
for the lip, aluminum or abs. lawn edging works great. there is a good aluminum one from last year in the welding and fabrication forum, but i cant find it. cf/ fiberglass/ moulded abs look good and can be formed into more complex shapes depending on what you need or want to spend.
i'm using a cf lip with a nomex honeycomb core/cf outers splitter. when i buy another one it won't be as expensive. i had the pw cf lip and i liked it, so i basically built the splitter around it.
i don't have a pic of the splitter, but the lip is a regular pw carbon lip fit around my brake ducts. the splitter goes on the bottom. if my car wasn't on 13's, i would want a lip that was lower.

i just found the link, but i realized that it got posted in the other thread you made in the ax/rr forum. here's the link to that thread for anyone who wants to get in on the conversation, since it looks like it is going to be in that thread.

yea the other thread is just made for the general cars itself.....
what i might be more concentrated on is the splitters among crx crowd since i own a crx too.....
will be good to see some pictures around....and some construction tips and materails used...

the thread above is how most people make theirs, and the materials i listed are what most people use. it really isn't a part that you ned to overthink for the most part.
as far as design, you want the lip as low as you can without ripping it off, and you want the splitter to stick out .5-1in past it, and extend back to wherever the rulebook says (most state the front edge of the wheel well, which makes sense for a lot of reasons.) trim/fasten/notch to fit.
one nice thing for me is the use of dzus fasteners to hold everything to the car so that i can pop everything off to get it on a trailer/ramp/driveway/autoxcourse/whatever.
i think aluminum body/aluminum shank rivets are the way to go for the lip to splitter connection, for weight and corrosion resistance- not to mention cost. using bolts/nuts it silly.
and the roadracegear part is quite nice from what everyone who uses it says.
