Interesting Problem.....can you solve it????
Ok basic problem ....Car won't start.
Setup:
92 CX hatch
B16a2 motor and tranny
P28 ECU w/type R map and VTEC @ 5200rpm
EVERYTHING ELSE IS STOCK
Heres the story:
I was on the way to the bank, and the car was ideling low at red lights about 200rpm. When I started the car as I was leaving the bank, the car idled at 500 rpm....then the check engine light came on....about 2 seconds later I heard a click under the dash and the car died. First thing that came to mind was either my main relay or the P28 that i just got chipped. Luckly I had a P75 in my back seat and a extra main relay that was working perfectly when i took it outta my friends EG. Well I tried the new relay and the new computer, the new relay and the old computer, the old relay and the new computer....all combinations. I was stumpped. The odd thing about this is that the Check engine light would not throw and codes when I tried to see what the light was for. I even cut the plug off and connected the two wires to make sure they had good connection. NOTHING. The check engien light just stayed on. I called my homeboy at PRODRAG here in houston and he gave me a 3rd main relay that was BRAND NEW. Still nothing. The fuel pump won't prime and there is no spark. Checked all the fuses under the dash and under the hood.....all were good. Stripped out my alarm in the parking lot cause i've seen fried alarms cause problems like this. So now all my under dash wires are set to stock. I've check all grounds and all sensors. All grounds are tight and secure and all sensors are plugged in tight and in the correct positions.
HONDA TECH I"M STUMPPED.... any suggestions and comments would be appreciated. Maybe i'm just being blind and missing something really obvious.
The oddest thing is that the Check engein light stays on constantly and won't throw a code.
Thanks

This might seem dumb to you, but it happens to some. Does the check engine light go away if you disconnect the wires? If so, you don't have an ecu problem.
By the sound of it, it seems like a ground.

I did try a stock ecu. A p75 which I used to drive on when I didn't have any p28s. Didn't work.
And when I disconnect the "code throwing" wires the check engien light stays on regardless of which ecu is bieng used. I will recheck grounds when I get home from work. Thanks
Any other ideas

That is an interesting problem. I would definitley just start checking all the wiring. Which I know you are. But I highly doubt both ecus are bad. I would check them in a friends car or something. Just to verify.

Gonna try the ecus in my friends car for sure......the cables are down tight an no corosion on them.....nice and clean. The alarm was a POS that basically just gave me remote access. It didn't actually cut the ignition wires like good alarms, just spliced into them for power purposes. Any ways its out right now.
Any more ideas guys I appreciate the help so far!!!

It may sound stupid, and I mean no offence by suggesting it, but have you actually checked the fuel pump? Check to see if you have power to the pump(make sure to check at the fuel pump connector)....if you have power to the pump and the pump still isn't priming, your fuel pump is shot.....
As for the CEL, I'm not really sure.

ABK.....what do you mean the wires were shorting out? were they cut up and grounding out or what? I haven't been under an eg dash in a while so its learing how to ride a bike again for me. Do you know of any fuses up there that commonly go out that I may be forgetting?
Saxman...what your reffering to is the main relay switching over after the fuel pump is primed and no there is no click, and no fuel pump, also no spark which lead me to belive the main relay was bad.
Civic Fan....No good suggestions are stupid. What is stupid is that I can't figure this thing out. I'm gonna go and try to connect the fuel pump direct right now. And i'm gonna go check all those fuses again cause I may have missed one who knows. If anything its a good excuse to pull the dash off and clean up the dust back there.
Thanks for the help guys lemme know if anybody has any new ideas while i'm wrenchin.

OK I learned a valuable lesson in humility today. After tearing into my dash...pulling out all kinds of crap....and thinking my car had grown some new wires somewhere that I wasn't aware of, I discovered the problem. The ACG (or is it AGC?) fuse was fried. It was kinda hidden behind a wire and what I thought looked like a good fuse from one angle apparently wasn't upon closer inspection.
Lesson learned:
Check and recheck your grounds and fuses first. Go from the simplist fixes to the most difficult fixes. And don't assume that the fuse or ground is good....pull the damn thing out and make sure.
Thanks for the help guys.

that's cool.
I just had an issue with a previos owner running obdII injectors on a obdI car and he wired the **** all fucked up. And when you would drive on of the wires would short out against the fuel rail, and blow the ecu fuse. Took us a while to figure that out. I was about to pull my hair out.
