Default front component speaker recommendations for 4th gen

I have a 4th gen Si and am looking for a component speaker set for the front. Different places have said that different sets fit, but i don't know if they take the depth into account or just the 6.5" size. I was wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge of which speakers fit nicely without custimization, in particular i was wondering about the Polk 6500db, Kicker S6.2, and Alpine Type-R component sets. Any other input would be nice, i really haven't been able to find much info about what fits, thanks.

I have infinity Components ($400USD) in the front on my SR-V.. I absolutely love 'em. They perform very well once amplified.

I was looking at some infinity's, the Reference 6010cs because price is a large issue too, also, i guess i should mention that i'm not gonna be amplifying these either.

yea, my front OEM front speakers are blown and i don't want to replace them with non-components, and there always is the possibility i will amp sometime in the future.

get coaxial speakers for the door and stuff some 4 inch speakers behind the tweeter covers. it sounds good for what it is.
if you get alpines you will have to use the bracket that comes with them. other than that i don't know cause i have the bracket in still

Do the Alpine's come with brackets that make them fit? Cause i know the mounting depth is really deep compared to some speakers. I know that 6.5" speakers fit, my only concern is depth, and i wanna be able to install these myself without any custom work, just put them right in. Thanks for the input.

that is what i said.
the alpines come with a bracket so they don't hit the window. the box says they are specifically for a honda door so i would think they will make it fit and allow you to put your window down. but that's just from experiance

It's ultimately up to you. I have the CS-6010 and I'm loving them. I'm not sure about the clearence issue tho, as I've made some custom kickpanels.. But I definately recommend these speakers.

Many brands make a shallow mount version of their more popular speakers, infinity does this, so does pioneer, clarion has b4.

Let me know what speakers you use...I am about to replace my blown front door speakers. I also need to replace my rear decks also!

I have Focal components in my Prelude - amplified, they sound great. I now just need to find something I can use as a centre speaker 'cos it's part of a PC-based Dolby Digital 5.1 setup!

the 2004-2006 (newer) Alpine Type-R component woofers will not fit in the doors with just the provided bracket. I had to use a 1/2" spacer then stack the alpine bracket on top of that. as for the tweeters, they fit perfectly... the alpine tweeters use the same mounting system as the factory tweeters (single threaded hole on the back of the tweeter) the factory screw threads right in to the alpine tweeter.

I have the polk db 6500 but they aren't installed yet (still finishing putting together the rest of my car) they fit fine with the oem bracket and if you want them in the back, the gril they provide won't fully cover up the mounting ring so it looks dumb. i'd rather cover the speakers up with oem covers so theives don't try to break in. I'm planning on amping these 2 sets of components with elemental designs 4 channel amp and then getting 2 elemental designs 10" subs and amping with their amp as well. i'll let you know how it sounds.. now I'm going to go try to finish rebuilding my rear brakes....

infinity i think is the best for the money. Ive spent around 3000 dollars in speakers over 2 cars, and wasted alot of money. It is best to get quality **** the first time, ie dont buy speakers with less than 30 rms and a reasonable max. If you listen to music loud, they will blow. Alpine makes very nice speakers as well. Any name brand will not dissappoint you, just stay away from sony at all costs. Their car audio branch has almost gone bankrupt several times for a reason.

My setup:
rainbow components in the front, infinity reference coaxles in the back, viper amp powering them at about 50rms each. Pioneer premier sub in the trunk powered by a pioneer amp at 400rms. Sounds loud enough for anyone that wants to maintain their hearing over age 40. I would also recommend dynamat or a similar sound deadener around all of your speakers(much better sq)

anyone that's planning on dynamating, I HIGHLY reccomend you check out elementaldesigns.com sound deadening. there is i think 4 different types, 3 liek dynamat, and a paipnt on one. it's good and cheap. 1.60 per square foot! dynamat charges over $20 for a liscence plate kit? that's 12.5 times more expensive! unless you are a weight weenie, check it out, great deals on subs and amps there as well

Yes i just helped my friend install some of their version 2 sound deadener(second layer) and it is like night and day. Mid bass comes alive after installing it and door panel rattle is almost eliminated.

how much sound dampening material do you usually need? just enough to go around the speaker, or are you supposed to cover the entire inside of the door?

around the speaker is sufficient, the whole door is overkill for most setups. If you have subs on the other hand, it can be very beneficial to sound deaden the trunk lid.

Do some research on cheap sound deadener and you almost always find that it will peel off in the heat. I've heard of deadener turning to goo and ruining peoples carpet. Deadener is a great investment. Other then the new HU I got it's made the biggest improvement in SQ on my car.

If you get some nice components get an amp too. You'll be happy.
