Default easiest swap ef sedan 88

I've mainly been into air cooled vw's the past year or so before that I had a 00 si and now I have an 88 civic dx 4 door sittin out front that I want to do a swap in ..

What is the easiest swap with a decent bump in power... ??

Also keep budget in mind, don't really want to spend more than 1200-1500

Thanks guys for your time

B18A/B also known as LS. You can get you motor, tranny, mounts, and linkage under $1200

if staying obd0 you'll need to do same wiring for MPFI either swap.

LS will take a little more work with mounts etc but pay off ZC can be done in an afternoon and is a good little motor to work with.

I would vote for LS myself.

in a weekend i doubt it, just cuz of the wiring

but ya, the ls will kill a zc power wise, but they are also a more expensive swap. and you said the easiest swap. the easiest swaps are going to be d series for us ef'ers

stick to like a zc, d15b vtec, d16z6, d16y8 or something in that nature

and if u dont like wiring (like me) check out rywire.com for ur obd1 conversions and possibly mpfi conversion harnesses

You do not need to convert to OBD1 you just need to stay with OBD0 which is what the car currently is. It is cheaper to stay OBD0.

You can get a 1st gen b16 and still stay OBD0, all you need to do is the DPFI to MPFI conversion. and hook up some vtec wires......not hard at all.

if you have everything you need you can do this swap in a day with your buddy, even with the wiring

Yes you can just get a harness for vtec and obd1 or anything your heart dreams off from rywire.
