I have a 1997 accord lx. I am wondering about a noise my car is making at idle. first of all at normal idle it is making a noise like something is loose i cant explain what it sounds like. it is not that loud but if you listen closely you can hear it. i just got my water pump timing and balancer belt replace along with an oil and filter change by the dealer. also my engine is making a ticking sound at normal idle. the dealer was suppose to check the valve clearance during the service i stated above. but when i got the car back it still does it. i am using mobil 1 5w-30.
can some one help me on this issue?

 

Honda tendered a Technical Service Bullitin whereby certain production F22b2's suffered from a persistance valve tick (I believe #2 cylinder) from excessive wear between the cam followers and pivot shaft. It never rose to the status of a recall, and Honda Dealers will gladly charge you for the repair.
The good news? The two in our stable of vehicles both exibit this; but with regular valve lash adjustments I haven't had a problem in 460k miles.
