Default Should I use sealing tape to mount my regulator and gas line for a MIG?

My instructions say nothing about using sealing tape to connect my regulator to my gas bottle or the gas line to the welder. However, when I connected them it sounded like it was leaking so some sort of sealing tape/sealant seems logical to me at this point.

It wont hurt anything, but it is not needed. All the fittings should be brass...brass is soft enough metal to seal on its own.

You should not need to.
