My climate control background lighting will most of the time be off. If I hit a bump or tap the dash, it will come back on. Does anyone have a solution to this problem. Its an eg.

 

well do you have a new h/u if so when it was installed they probablly pulled the wire out that goes to the climate control. mine does it too under some wikid wheel hop all you gotta do it pull the h/u and maby some of the dash and re connect the wire

Sounds like a loose connection. I had this problem in my hatch. The backlights are basically 2 bulbs in holders on wire leads. If you get a cold solder joint on one of the leads, or the bulb is loose in the holder, it'll go on and off.

You need to pull the climate control out of the car and try to track down where the loose connection is. There's several write-ups on getting it out, but basically, console, radio, and three screws have to come out, then you just pop the cable off of the heater box and slide it out.

 

it could be bad bulbs. i had the same problem. try changinging the bulbs first. its worth a try

 

yup, your bulbs could be getting loose in their sockets

ok i gotta a question on this i have the same problem, i have the climate control out but i dont know how to get to the bulbs ! pls help

 

If you've got it out, look at it from the back, right side up. You'll see the plastic housing, the connections, and such. If you look for two sets of two wires, kinda sticking out a bit. They will go to the front of the housing from the circuit board. Those wires go to two bulb holders that plug into the housing. You need to carefully pull the bulb holders out of the housing. The bulbs are in there. If you are careful, you can completely disassemble the control assembly with a few screwdrivers. You can get the circuit board out, and fix any solder joints that way. It's what I did. Time consuming, but worth it in the end.
